Will have to earn his way in to a premiership side. With Bolton playing on, Kennedy, Parker, Jack, Hanners, Bird,McGlynn, Okeefe, he will have to force someone out.

If he is good enough to force someone out at his age we have an absolute gem on our hands!!!

Most likely IMO would be Bird maybe if the game/environment/matchup suits. Bolts if he needs a rest/sub (allthough I think they'd just swap Parker & Bolts around). Tough ask to push someone out though. Might be looking ahead to a couple of games in 2013/2014 with the aim of cementing ROKs spot after that I reckon.

He's not really competition for Bird, he isn't a shut-down player. If you were comparing them as pure midfielders Mitchell is already ahead of Bird without any further development, but I wouldn't back him to play the same role.

Yeah, that was why there was the "if the game/environment/matchup suits" disclaimer. Given the opponent etc and want to be a bit more aggressive and can afford to lose 1 shut down type for an attacking type then I think it's a realisitic oppurtunity for him. But I agree, no way he could do what Birdy does ATM. In fact, I think Birds role is often underrated by many, he has had some very hard jobs/opponents to keep up with and has done a stirling job IMO.
