Not blaming this season on Hille of course,
it's a team effort! ;)

Was Hille the right choice for the captaincy?

I personally find him a little useless out there most of the time..

As much as I hate to say it, he is a useless captain.

He might be a good bloke around the club and I am sure there are plenty of reasons why they made him captain but he just doesn't provide enough on game day from what I can see.

needs to get alot more agression in his game and really throw himself hard at the ball in marking contest. i believe he just doesnt put his body to the test hard enough when he has to. opposition sides should fear him in pack situations.

Hasn't done a good job. When Hird plays he is clearly the leader of the team. But who would you put as captain instead of him? The only player i can think of is Lucas, the rest of the leadership group has had a pretty bad year.

No.

Good honest ruckman, love his effort, but there's one major flaw in his game which IMO disqualifies him from being captain material: He's terrible in the clutch.

Short of Joel Reynolds, possibly the least reliable set shot on the entire list.

Once again....game on the line, Essendon protecting a shaky lead. Takes a wonderful mark, then misses the shot. He's been doing this his whole career.

I'm not blaming him for the result today; he rucked very well. But I don't trust him with a game-sealing kick. You can't have that in a captain.

He's definitely capable and goes about his work honestly enough, but captain material right now? No....just doesnt seem to take the game by the scruff of its neck when the game calls for it. He was the better ruckman out there today, but yet didnt really appear to really outshine his opponent at any stage.
Fletcher or Lucas wouldve been my choices as captain material in Lloydy's absence

Mark McVeigh?
Got me interested. I hadn't really thought of him as a captain, don't know why, but I always see McVeigh, JJ and MJ as a collective noun. What sparked your thoughts?

He's been solid and consistent all year, rarely beaten. He has that drive that a captain needs.
