when hird, bucks and vossy were at their prime who was the best?

My vote would be Hirdy, not only has he achieved it all (norm smith, borwnlow, AA, B&F) but he seems to liftin the big games more than the other two.

not this **** again ? Had enough of this crap from the other 1,234,567 times this Poll was done previously

This argument has been smashed to death. But for what it is worth, I cannot believe that the other 2 are mentioned in the same breath as Hird. He is head and shoulders above them both.

Absolute bullsh1t. You can have an opinion on who was the better player, but leave this crap out of it.

I think buckley has aswell, in a team that hasnt been as successful as the dons, rather a team that has struggled for 2/3 of his time there.

And i think all three off voss, bucks and hird lift in big games, its just hird played down foward more ofthen then the others in the peak of his career so he would often kick a late goal or something like that whereas voss n bucks set up those sort of things

Tough call, all three could easily stake a claim. I actually voted Voss because in his prime he was never beaten in a contest and I like those type of players.

However, if I had to pick one guy for my midfield from that era, I'd probably leave those three and take Robert Harvey in his prime. I'll probably get flamed for that, but it is all pretty subjective and I was always a big Harvey fan.

bucks has more individual awards, including all those mentioned

rising star award - beat voss n hird
magarey medal - voss n hird playing reserves footy at the time
BOG in a winning GF for port, and a port b&f in the same year as his magarey medal
jezza medals for best on ground in a SOO game
been unlucky to play for a rubbish club for most of his career in the AFL so no chance at the ultimate team award the premiership

It's really like comparing apples to oranges isnt it.... But I have always said that if R. Harvey hadve played at one of the Victorian powerhouse clubs, he wouldve been regarded as one of the greatest ever.
