'while Cats midfielder Cameron Ling tagged Scott West out of the game and Corey Enright had 30 touches.'

Scott West got 30+ touches.

Cameron Ling: Absolute champion.

On the whole certain senior midfielders looked slow to react, make first option correct decisions, kick with any effect or precision or have any real impact on the game in a way that wins matches.

Scott West when he wasnt swinging haymakers at a WWE grappling Ling in the flank shadows of Telstra Dome...was just going about his job of contributing to another Doggie victory over the cats under Eade.

Where superior footy nous and game plan beats plodders with big hearts. These guys have to start disposing of the footy when they get it more effectively and in a shorter time with some accuracy...or the season will be over by round 8...sound familiar?

I am waiting for us to play a quality side...when they are playing well...and seeing if we can beat them. Beating Carlton...or an under done melbourne...you can dwell on that all you like...but lets see if we beat a quality side in the first 11 games this season when the games will be hot..and I will start to get excited.

Did I get off the point?...;) ...who cares I am sick of this.

Cameron Ling in the best? The seriously need to be murdered. What game were they watching?

I looked at the The Age site and Ling was in the best in that too. Further proof that journalists don't watch games.

Our best were Enright, Chapman, Nathan Ablett, Gary Ablett and Wocjinski until he went off. Certainly not Cameron f**king Ling.

I don't take a lot of notice about stats - its about impact.
Ling had little impact but West was also much quieter than I have seen in the past as well. All Wests work was done in close-very hard to stop.

As for taggers getting in the best - I don't think so. Those who have enough impact to allow the team to break away and win deserve the votes next those who allow enough scoring to stay in touch if the side is being outclassed ( like yesterday).

Partridge has got our best right from where I sat. Ling would get no votes from me either.

Indeed, I agree with your view of our best except for Gary Ablett, I dont think he was that good. Ling was not one of our best but I think by his standards, yesterday wasnt so bad. Sure he fumlbed it abit but Scott West wasn't as influentical as he normally is when he plays us. He was far from our best but I wouldnt say he was worst.

Ling really is the cause of the midfield problems. He handballs too often and without looking at whether the team mate is going to be at advantage or disadvantage. All he seems to care about is making sure he isn't tackled with the ball. If he is removed from the midfield stops putting players under pressure, our other midfielders confidence shouldn't take a battering through the game.

Joel Corey and Bartel should be our top mid fielders, controling the play.

I honestly can't figure out what Linger exactly did well yesterday to place amongst our "best".

It certainly couldn't be the tagging job he did on West.
