Stevo for club champion in 2002

Ok. I will do this first. It is extremely difficult for me. Stevo played terribly today. Actually he hasn't been great in the last couple of weeks. :( . There I said it. Enough said, it was very hard for me to say.

Ryan's knee isn't looking good. This opens the door for Daniel Schell. He must be in line for a recall now and like it or not they will have to stick with him. I actually think it will be a blessing for Daniel, he now has to make the most of the chances he will be given.

My heart goes out to Ryan. I hope he gets better and we see him out in the Crows colours again soon.

Well done Scotty Welsh on another 5 goals. He has impoved out of sight. A credit to his determination to improve.

Bad luck Roo on not getting a win on your 200th game. Mind you we don't have a great track record with milestone games so it probably isn't suprising. I reckon the next time a player reaches a milestone game, he doesn't play, we just credit him with the game and he plays the next week with say 201 games. Stupid theory I know but we just have such bad luck on milestone games.

Well done Nathan Bassett. The hound is always reliable. You always know he is going to give his best and compete for every ball. He is very much under rated but I am a big fan of his game.

We played terribly and yet we only lost by 17 points and actually we got within 2 points twice in the last quarter. We should have gone on with it but we wasted a couple of chances.

We must now focus on the next couple of weeks. Carlton at Optus, we can win this, it will be tough, but I am sure we can make amends from this week. Brisbane at home won't be easy, but as freo and collingwood have shown they are vulnerable away from home and then Hawthorn at home.

I think we all realised this was danger game given the publicity and build up of the Roos.

Have to agree - I thought your Stevo was well below form today except for that nice goal in the 3rd quarter.

I reckon that kick from Bode across the ground in the 2nd quarter which King ended up with on the wing and then passed to Pickett was crucial. It really took the mometum their way after we had done well to get to the lead.

Oh well, perhaps its our turn for some media bashing and public coach berating of players to get us up for our return bout at Optus!

Hmmm- Now who could we start on the bench??!! :p
McCleod, Hart, Welsh, Bassett - [only joking of course ;) - just chose 4 players who actually have been very consistent this year!!]

Don't give Ayres any ideas, wouldn't put it past him.

Stevo for Club Champion in 2002

Topjars, I know your just teasing me! ;)

Although my boy's form hasn't been great, I think there are a number of players who would be dropped before him. You see we actually know he can play well, he is just not on the boil at the moment. He will come good and I don't think a run with the Eagles will help him, it would help my Eagles, but not Stevo in the long run. Maybe I need to go and have another chat with him!

Hi, this is my first post.

I live in Sydney and drove down to Canberra for the game yesterday. You might be intereested to know that I would estimate that at least 6,000 of the 7,600 crowd were supporting our lads. So much for a Kangaroo home game!

We lost the game on two fronts. No. 1, we watched on like dazed schoolchildren for the first 15 minutes of the first quarter whilst the Kangas "lesserlights" ran rings around us. They were hard, aggressive and first to the ball. It didn't take Einstein to see this coming really.

Secondly, with or without Fitzy, we are practically incapable of taking a mark in the forward 50.

I think unless we solve this second problem, we are in for some painful losses in the next few weeks against the likes of Brisbane, Collingwood, Hawthorn and West Coast. Look at the ladder. Who have we beaten so far?

Sorry to be a doomsayer in my first post, but I fear that all the early season hard work may come to nothing.

napsyd - No need to get that pessimistic after 1 poor performance.

The major concern is what we are going to do about the key forward posts. Fitzy is injured (& should have been dropped anyway) & we aren't likely to see him for the rest of the season. Stevens is badly out of form, as he has lost all confidence with his marking. What do we do with the likes of Perrie, Schell & Marsh? Biglands should come back in against Carlton, so do we play all 3 ruckman, but give them other roles? IMO, we need to persist with Stevens @ CHF & also play Perrie forward as they tend to combine well (This could mean bringing in a Hewitt or McGregor to play down back, depending on opposition matchups). If the weather is OK, we could play a 3rd tall either Schell or Marsh - particularly against Carlton who lack tall backmen. Alternatively, hopefully Beinke find some form with Port today, as he could come in to take some pressure of Welshy. Certainly the match committee will need to do some serious thinking this week.
