Judd = 2 All Aust, 1 B & F, 1 brownlow, top 3 in his B & F in each of his seasons, 4 goals in a quarter twice, 2 finals appearances

Ball = 2 finals appearances, 2 BOG's, 1 top 3 in B & F.

Great to see you're taking the loss well Joff.

I wish TP was here so you could spend your night jawing with him.

:D

No worries Black Juju. WCE way too good for the Saints today.

Forgetting the Judd debate, your teams midfield was extremely hard to stop.

Baker managed it against Judd but the rest of the midfield was overwhelmed in the first half. Only once the Saints made the game a slog did the Saints midfielder even up and save the game from being a blowout.

Still a six goal win is a good solid if uninsipiring win. Would take that anyday to a honourable one point loss.

Cheers.

Wonder where Frank is ;)

Hodge is coming along very nicely thank you very much.

Ball is just a great midfielder who isgetting better and better.

Judd is a flashy outside player who can be shut down with a close tag as Baker has done three times in a row.

All in all I think Hodge is developing into a great backman, Ball is becoming a premier inside midfielder and Judd looks nice ala headland when the ball is given to him on a platter and he has space. Still a good player, and looks wonderful when allowe dto run but has significantly come back to the field when discussing him Ball and Hodge.

Ball and Hodge have got a truckload of improving to do, dont know about Judd. May have plateued.
Judd an outside player?

Are you crazy?

Think the real loser in this debate, has to be the dockers, missing out on all three guns after initially holding the number 1 pick! :D

McPharlin is a star.

Hawks got Hodge with pick 1, sammy mitchell with pick 36 in that trade whilst getting Croad back home, Freo got McPharlin and eventually Dunn with pick 10... although McPharlin obviously a great player, was destined to go home to Perth & feel Hawks won out in that deal.

You had pick 24 as well.

Think we actually had pick 32 on Campbell Brown, so all in all, a great draft for many teams.

Draft history: 1999 National AFL Draft 1st round selection (Hawthorn) No. 10 overall; 2001 National AFL Draft traded by Hawthorn for No. 1 (Luke Hodge), No. 20 (Daniel Elstone) and No. 36 (Sam Mitchell).

Why has a thread which I started wanting to praise all 3 players NOT at the expense of any of the others turned into anoter "our is better than yours, because of...." thread ?

We all are happy with ur respective players and they each more than likely have got a decade of great football in front of them for us to enjoy. Each of them also have a lot of improvement in them given thay are all 21 odd.

You don't have to denegrate others to make youself feel good.

Mate you know absolutely nothing about football if you cant see Judd can be shut down.

Baker has pulled his pants down three times in a row.

Judd is an outside player. Nothing wrong with that, every club needs a good outside player and Judd is one of the best. But it is an absolute cast iron fact that Judd can be closed down.

Hodge cant because he plays loose man in defence, and Ball cant because he is a tough in an under player, something Judd could only dream of being.

Mabye one day you will get to a match and see for yours.elf
Diasgree with your comments re.Judd. Agree with your comments re.Bentleigh.

Why do people continually try and degrade one of the others to promote their favourite?

Every St. Kilda supporter is thrilled to have Ball, similairly WCE supporters to have Judd and us Hawthorn supporters to have Hodge.

They all have great qualities and there are things that each of them bring to their respecetive teams that we as those teams supporters love.

Once a young player puts on your teams jumper and slowly becomes a star, supporters form a special bond with that player but that does not mean the others are lesser players.

Opposition supporters also love watching these players as you rarely see them bagging the ability of these 3. They even nominate them as favourite players outside their club they love to watch and wish they could have them.

The 2001 draft (class of 2002) could be the greatest group of players we have ever seen and the 1,2,3 picks we may never a high quality group ever again who can mpact games so early in their respective careers.

GO BALL
GO JUDD
GO HODGE
couldn't agree more. All great draft picks, better than previous years i mean thing of players like Fraser, or Beetham or other no names these three are out and out guns at just 21.

Any of them could beat each other on any given day thats the truth.

Ball/Hodge cant seperate them. Only take Ball because he plays for the Saints

Id take Ball over Hodge just BECAUSE he is a little tougher and kicks perfectly on BOTH sides not just one. Id put Judd on the Half forward line that way he can get given the ball easier and kick those lovely flashy goals in style easier, and he wont have to deal with Baker... :D

and he won't get dirty fingernails.

A little tougher than Hodge??? ru serious I love Ball as a player as well but to say he is tougher than Hodgey is just plain wrong.

I for one have loved to watch Hodge's gradual improvement. The boy can play footy. ;)
