Hodge is the most overrated player in the AFL

Those 4 plus Jonathan Brown are top 5 for me.

But the others named are valid contenders. I really can't see the point in rubbishing Reiwoldt who is clearly right up there, as are Bartel and Pavlich. Whether we're talking top 5 or top 10, we're talking absolute elite.

Thanks mate..Jonathan Brown will slot in their nicely. Love the way he goes about it. I am probably a bit hard on Reiwoldt but I am merely responding to a poster that tells me Hodge is not amongst the elite in the league..Cant have it!

All people are saying is Hodge yes is a top footballer but to this point in time he's gone missing in crunch games! Can anyone really argue that fact?

So the final last year against the Crows when he was injured and almost single handed willed the Hawks over the line, was not a crunch game.

What happened the next game? ;)

What happened against geelong rd 4 last year when he saved the game for us in the final quarter? What happened vs Westcoast when they were overrunning us in 2007 and he went forward to kick 3 goals in a qtr and win us the game? What happened vs. brisbane and adelaide this year where he kicked the sealer/winner respectively? What about Rd7 collingwood where he put on a blistering field kicking and goaling display in a half of football before doing his hamstring? The man continually stands up when he is needed, yet people point to the exceptions to the rule to try and prove that this man is anything but a matchwinner.

Sometimes. Hodge stands up in crunch games way more often though.

You only want to pay attention to the games we lose though, don't you? Take those blinkers off.

So has Milne been up there in the Brownlow votes or been considered for Captain or been AA or been considered in the top 10 players going around. You are an absolute f*&kw*&t that follows a team that has ALWAYS produced little. Envy is not good pal just because Saints have ONCE AGAIN passed the premiership window and you will not see a premiership for another 10 years don't go criticising players from teams/clubs that are going somewhere. Loved your effort against WC where you were premiership contenders only a few days earlier, you must be use to it now hey.

Hodge is a gun and by the end of his career will have as many or more premiership medals/trophies than what the Saints FC has had in its entire existance. Very funny in its entire HISTORY.

Some Saints supporters are such c*&ks they beat the Hawks and think they are a great side and have got something over the Hawks forgetting that it was like there 3rd loss for the season. Funny things out of the ordinary happen and its the entire season that you are judged on not one game.

Keep hoping Sainters do not feel sorry for you losers not one bit.

Piss take people..Don't bite..This guru would remove a limb to have Hodgey in a Saints jumper. Great player, amongst the elite of the comp.
oh..and for the record. Riewoldt will never be as good as Hodgey, as long as his bum points to the ground. That is all....

I laugh even louder its all about winning premierships and ONE PREMIERSHIP in its entire history and I have seen many that I can remember HAHAHAHAHAHA.

The only thing missing once AGAIN is the Saints winning a final let alone playing in them. Saints supporters have got it over the Hawks for sure! Poor excuse as a club ALWAYS. Been the whipping boys of the competition for 80 odd years. How can anyone follow these bunch of losers. Lets sack the coach because the President has had a falling out with him what a great club! Would not see this at local footy absolute bunch of tosser weak and soft supporters who let this happen.

Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

Hodge was the difference tonight

How did he go on Friday night ?

I managed to sneak him into the votes against Collingwood. How 'bout you Nathan Q Brown ? Went alright didn't he ?

You see, you can snipe at him all you like ... but the simple truth of this matter is that there are no two players at Collingwood who would be worth trading Hodge for.

Any two Collingwood players and the deal would not get done. That's because of the gulf between where he is at and where your best player is at.

The funniest bit is that he's not alone either. Any one of these blokes would be your best player if they were at Collingwood:

Hodge, Mitchell, Franklin, Roughead, Bateman, Sewell, Crawford, Croad, Brown, & Lewis. That's ten better than anyone you've got.

Any one of these blokes would be your #1 midfielder:

Hodge, Mitchell, Bateman, Sewell, Crawford & Lewis

It get funnier still, because Cam Cloke would be your best ruckman.

And wait for it ... Heath Scotland would be your best midfielder.

Can't blame you for concentrating on what Hodge is up to. With a view like yours, I'd be looking over the fence too.

are you talking about Carlton or collingwood?

Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

now i know why hawthorn didn't make hodge captain. from the outside looking in, it seems like he is a great leader and all but obviously those in the inner sanctum knew what he was really made of.

Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

You must be new.

Those who've followed footy for a while know that Collingwood dumped Cam Cloke and Heath Scotland ... and now they both play for Carlton (they're the guys in dark blue with that funny looking squiggly white thing on the front).

Anyway, Collingwood dumped Cloke and Scotland, see. You followin' me ?

But, if they'd have kept them, both would be amongst their most valuable players right about now; especially seeing as how Cam Cloke is a better ruckman than anyone at Collingwood and Heath Scotland would be leading their midfield.

Did you get all that ?

I think its more to do with Mitchell being the ultimate person to represent the club in all aspects of being a captain in the media etc. Atleast the Hawks chose a bloke who has spilt blood on the field for there club, has brown and gold in their veins unlike a captain who has blue and gold in theirs, very disrespectful to Carlton's history and previuos captains and players choosing a bloke as captain before he even plays a game for the team. Disgraceful actually.

i agree, it was quite embarrassing to have a player just walk in and become our captain, but that said if it was going to be any one player who you'd want to be doing it, it'd be chris judd. let's face it, we didn't exactly have any other candidates, stevens turned up in bad shape and just doesn't play like a leader, fevola for obvious reasons, who would you have picked? i think juddy has done a terrific job as captain and i can't wait for 3-4 years time when gibbsy is ready to take it off him. and let's not stray off track, this thread is about how overrated hodge is, and my point was that looking in from the outside, everyone thought hodge was the obvious choice but the people who were fit to make that decision knew what the public is only discovering now.

That is a load of bollocks because it took months to determine who it would be it was never obvious between Mitchell and Hodge always a close call. If I could only choose one it would be Hodge as he is in the mould of a Voss or Roo type of captain but Mitchell is also outstanding can never fault his attitude work ethic and dedication to the game. Atleast we are a club that does not have co-captains that is a joke there can only be one.
