Is it just cos he was a No.1 pick? I hear a lot of talk about how he might miss the Geelong game and that Hawks have no chance without him . . . but he's far from their best or most important player. Sewell, Mitchell, Ladson, Young, Ellis, all are better than Hodge. Or is it just me?

i just don't think he's that good a player, even his kicking can be a little off yet they speak about him like he never misses. The safest kick in that side isn't even hodge, it's guerra or ladson

Hodge is just another overrated Hawk hack.Just look at how he crumbled in last years final against North,a team that got smashed in their two other finals.

Mate I realise you only joined BF in November last year, just after you won the flag, so this little foray into internet forums is all upside for you...but I suggest you check out the game a week prior to the one you quote. He pretty much won the game along with Buddy, and got injured in the process. What happened the following week is relevant, but hardly worthy to base an entire opinion of someone on.

Should I guage an opinion of Gary Ablett Jnr from your early season clash with Fremantle, where he got owned by Ryan Crowley?

Yeah it's you.

It may have gone over everyone else's head but I remember you.

Serial Hodge-hater who masqueraded as a Hawthorn supporter when he first joined and started multiple Hodge hate threads on the Hawthorn board until booted off permanently.

It's really quite alarming that you have such a problem with Hodge that you resort to cyber stalking. It's just really weird and you might need some professional help before you get yourself into a bit of bother.

Apart from that, the tribe has pretty well spoken - anyone who appreciates a 'true' footballer likes to watch Luke Hodge go about it.

Usually when someone posts a troll about a gun player stating that he is rubbish, it is usually backed up with some ridiculous and at times funny analysis. This has neither and it only serves to try and get the Hawk posters riled up and that even failed there.

Please read some threads started by Super_Phaser, as at least his ridiculous assertions are backed up with comedy value and pure lunacy that draws the longest bows possible.

Everyone has their favourite player. This is the guy you love to go and watch. He is usually a man’s man, brave and tough, a leader, intuitive, game breaker, match winner – you know the type I mean.

There is a guy going around at the moment for the Hawks who has all of the aforementioned qualities along with sublime skills and uncanny awareness.

Of course I am referring to Luke Hodge.

The foot pass to Williams broke Sydney's back – it wasn’t Williams' ensuing goal.

His 'cut' through traffic to score the sealer was also defining.

I really love him in the clinches, in traffic, he makes decisions and executes before mere mortals have thought about what they are intending to do.

It is rare to have a player that has the skills combined with the courage and aggression.

He has exemplary leadership skills, manages his troops with guidance and direction, support and care and tops it off by showing them how it's done.

He personifies most of the qualities that people love to pay to see.

There is no doubt clubs don't like to individualise however you can build a club around Hodge.

His determination is transparent to everyone which inspires his team mates to greater heights of effort and work ethic.

But it's now that his maturity and focus must hone into the really important things – premierships.
