Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

That is a load of bollocks because it took months to determine who it would be it was never obvious between Mitchell and Hodge always a close call. If I could only choose one it would be Hodge as he is in the mould of a Voss or Roo type of captain but Mitchell is also outstanding can never fault his attitude work ethic and dedication to the game. Atleast we are a club that does not have co-captains that is a joke there can only be one.

i know but i'm saying everyone in the public justa bout thought it was an obvious choice to make hodge captain, what i'm saying is it is only now that most people are starting to realise why he wasn't.

Hodge is a tool

Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

You must be new.

Those who've followed footy for a while know that Collingwood dumped Cam Cloke and Heath Scotland ... and now they both play for Carlton (they're the guys in dark blue with that funny looking squiggly white thing on the front).

Anyway, Collingwood dumped Cloke and Scotland, see. You followin' me ?

But, if they'd have kept them, both would be amongst their most valuable players right about now; especially seeing as how Cam Cloke is a better ruckman than anyone at Collingwood and Heath Scotland would be leading their midfield.

Did you get all that ?

Haha, woulda been better with a film clip:cool:

Our only problem with choosing a leader for our club, was that we had 2 obvious candiates, where as other clubs can barely scratch up one worthy candidate. I still laugh out loud at the thought of Nick Maxwell, being captain for Collingwood!

Only people still obsessed with the Judd vs Hodge debate, will have any input in this debate!
But most other people are prepared to except that Judd totally dominated the early years. But Hodge has really closed the gap!

Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

Great thread, it's funny how it was started by a rugby league troll who barracks for two sides, yet people still got sucked in. Hodge is nothing less than a gun and anybody who thinks he melts under pressure should really have a look at more hawthorn games cos he has dragged us over the line on many occassions, and always rises to the top when needed. You're all duds.

Then explain why Hawthorn are the worst performed AFL side in finals since it went to a 16 team competition. Never gotten past 4th place and even then only won 15 games in the whole season. Even Freo have done better

Hodge is a flukey player who pulls one good game out of his backside under pressure every now and then. He epitomises Hawthorn. Their inability to play consistent finals-type footy has been evident ever since 1991. The mental toughness of those days has disappeared. Guys like Kennett and Clarko are very suss under pressure and so are the players. Geelong, Bulldogs and Kangas handle pressure better than the Hawks. Sydney used to but will need a form reversal very soon. If they can turn things around the Hawks will struggle against them as well come finals time too.

When we finished 4th, hodge wasn't even in the AFL.

Since we made the finals again, we're 1/1

Flukey players don't average the 2nd most Champion Data points for a midfielder next to Gary Ablett.

Don't post unless you know something of what you're talking about.

What a dumbo you are. Since he arrived you have gotten worse. Lost more games than you have won and then shat yourselves against the Kangas when the pressure was on

Who gives a shit where we finished in 1994 or 2001?

BTW, we played finals last year and we will again this year - how's your mob going?

Still working on that 5 year* plan?

5 Year plan may not be honoured

We'll see how he fares against Tambles and Captain Johno this week, won't we.

Tugger supporters really do lead with the chin, don't they.

Finals experience into a young squad, yep, how disappointing.

How does it feel to be left in our wake?

We don't want to know how you like to take your men, whether it be hands down or in a batman suit, talk about it with your circle jerk buddies on the Geelong board.

Back to the OP, Hodge is the most underrated player by opposition teams. Then again, when you have Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis, Sewell, Ellis, Crawford and Bateman......you do have to underrate someone :D

Re: The difference between a champion and a pretender! Luke Hodge???

why do the media keep talking about hodge as if he is some sort of really tough guy? i know he's no softie but he does nothing more than your average player to warrant being called tough as often as he does. he wins very very little contested ball, he likes to mop up off halfback, he's not mentally tough enough to perform when it counts or against the good teams. so where does this perception come from?? i could understand if they said he hits other players hard but that hardly makes him tough? are there any non-hawthorn supporters who think h is genuinely tough and if so, why?
