You forgot future 10x AA FB James Frawley and future 10x AA CHB Colin Garland, but yes, some major jizz in my pants.

Watts, Grimes, Jurrah, Scully, Trengove, Morton

Just reading those 6 names makes me need to sit down for a minute

You missed out one of my personal and underated favourites in Jordie McKenzie. They should fit in well with Bate, Frawley, Rivers, Garland, Warnock, Sylvia, Moloney, Jones, Jamar, Green, Davey and others.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. From what they have shown so far, kids like Cheney, Bennell, Jetta and McNamara are no better than any other team's crop of youngsters.

Quite an impressive list. Of course, feel free to discuss them in this ongoing thread as well :D

Yep, it's a beautiful list we're looking at here, no two ways about it :D

Being a long suffering Melbourne supporter I reckon I can see light at the end of the tunnel.......good kids with good management means good times!

30 years ago I had the option of supporting either my Grandfathers side Melbourne or my Grandmothers side St Kilda. Melbourne were second last and St Kilda were last......thankfully I picked Melbourne, we'll win a premiership before they do!!!!

Melbourne premiers in 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that Jordie McKenzie will struggle to get many games against our recent midfield intake.
Going by some of the Demonland posters, he was quite close to a promotion but the club asked him if he minded staying on the RL so we could get another kid in the draft. Apparently with next year's ND being slimmer pickings we will look at upgrading some rookies to our senior list in which case Jordie is in the front seat.

I think he might next year as he is still a rookie, but I'm a big wrap for him. In three years time Scully and Trengove should be established players along with Davey who should still be playing great footy. The rest of our best 22 midfield is a massive raffle. Moloney and Jones look good bets as they have established themselves as reasonable AFL midfielders, but after that there is a list of up to a dozen. McKenzie is in with a good shot on what I've seen so far.

Dunn and Bartram are in some trouble if they arnt able to play 10 games this year.

I think Bartam will struggle. Certainly not in the best 22. Dunn needs to be tried in the forward line, he's not a stopper or tagger. After seeing him at training a few times this year he seems to be bigger and does not appear to have the right body type to go with a run-with player.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Clint just get a contract extension. From what I read I think it may well be for 2 years (end 2011). I believe Dunn, Bell, Miller, Pettard and P. Johnson's contracts expire at end 2010 along with Newton and Meeson. Jamar and McNamara just agreed to 1 yr extensions. JMac will probably retire which will free-up a position on the veterans list or alternatively provide another rookie position.

Next year will see the elevation of rookies onto the main list because the GC17 concessions will probably mean that we will only use 2 or 3 selections in the National and other drafts. McKenzie is likely to be elevated. Question marks over Healey and Hughes. It will be Spencers 3rd year therefore a decision will need to be made on him.
One of Healey or Hughes could be retained as a 3rd year rookie, however we will probably have to delist or retire 5 or 6 players next year off the main list to allow for some elevated rookies and National draft selections.

GC17 may well be interested in one of our uncontracted players. Maybe one of of Miller, Johnson, Dunn or Bell. We need to ensure that Pettard gets a contract extension although I hear player managers are discouraging this and waiting on possible offers from GC17.
I was surprised that Jamar and McNamara opted for 1 year contracts. I would not be surprised however, if this was not their idea as they see this as a bargaining tool with GC17 sniffing around next year. I would not like to lose Jamar, MacNamara or Pettard.

surely dunn will play at half forward again like he's supposed to...

Fingers crossed on that... yeah, it's pretty important for the development of our forward line that he's given a real chance there on an ongoing basis in 2010.

Very salient point.

We definitely want to be getting the Russky and Ricky Bobby, in particular, into longer deals before GC17 are able to get their hands on them. Especially the Russky - of the three players you mention, he'd be the hardest to replace if we lost him.
