Could go either way, as that is also our best "in" in terms of getting space and government funding.Focus on community access and access for all doesn't sound like we are gonna plonk a training ground on it, does it?
It was a dumb idea then, and it's a dumb idea now.![]()
Caulfield racing suspension fear: Inside the talks over Melbourne Football Club’s race course push
A key element of a potential Melbourne Football Club redevelopment of Caulfield Racecourse would see racing suspended for close tobetsy.com.au
TLDR: In serious danger. Caulfield sounds terrible even if it goes ahead. Guerra not much help for us. If it did magically still happen, it's MILES off given how much they don't even know or have planned yet.
Waverley here we come.
Yeah fair point, imagine how PJ would be feeling about that?It was a dumb idea then, and it's a dumb idea now.
Would rather the club not tie itself to the racing and gambling industries to the end of time, either. But maybe that's just me.
Signing up for a construction project in Victoria involving a tunnel that's meant to cost $10 million. What could possibly go wrong?![]()

I'm still waiting for you guys to get an airport line lolSigning up for a construction project in Victoria involving a tunnel that's meant to cost $10 million. What could possibly go wrong?
It isn't. It's just a silly image-conscious idea as they seemingly enjoy being associated with the cultural elitism that comes with racing clubs.Yeah fair point, imagine how PJ would be feeling about that?
For me, it's been more - How is an oval in the middle of a racing track, that we need to go through a tunnel to get to, a "permanent" solution? Has always felt like another temporary fix.
I know Guerra is late to this party, but I've got a big watch on him this year and if this fell apart (which I hope it does tbh) it's a strike for him even so.It isn't. Just do Waverley and move on.
Honestly, it should spell the end of numerous senior leaders/board members – comical that we're still in this position in 2026.I know Guerra is late to this party, but I've got a big watch on him this year and if this fell apart (which I hope it does tbh) it's a strike for him even so.
I’ll blame Tim Lamb if it falls through.I know Guerra is late to this party, but I've got a big watch on him this year and if this fell apart (which I hope it does tbh) it's a strike for him even so.

Looks like the dees have accepted the AFL offer of Waverly. Doesn't look great outside but inside it has everything you need pool, hot/cold tubs, Gym, locker room. If the Caulfield redevelopment falls through I'd be considering redoing up WaverlyWeird how the club is being so evasive about Waverley.
I sense the CEO being evasive as he may be worried that the move to Waverley could impact the Caulfield bid. Maybe they’ll say you got Waverley anyway. Probably not but is otherwise weird he won’t discuss it when everyone else is.
100% we’ll be at Waverley soon. And agree one is not contingent on the other. Just seems he isn’t wanting to involve himself on any home base discussion publicly that isn’t Caulfield. He may just see it as not helping his cause in negotiations. Even though it wouldn’t matter.Doubt it. Separate issues. One is not contingent on the other.
Even if all the key stakeholders approved Caulfield tomorrow, the club will still be at Waverley for the better part of the next decade.
TBF, and feel yuck somewhat defending Guerra, but I wouldn't think "BETSY" which is run by former Racing Victoria people is a 100% trustworthy information source on this (know I've share something from them before obvs). They would absolutely be biased and trying to push any negotiations in favour of their industry. Not saying they're wrong as such, but they're definitely pushing an agenda with the tunnel stuff.Despite what our CEO has claimed, it seems a move to Caulfield is closer to dead than reality.
