And I had no issue with either party. He clearly wanted to go and to site out, it must have been pretty genuine. That being said, why sign a 3 year extension 6 months before? moron.
He walked out halfway through the pre-season camp. Hardly planned I think.

He was 19 and some 19yo's are immature, but that's not a capital offence. I think the club was blindsided, and it led to a bad outcome.

We traded Wilson reluctantly to Freo in 2017 in contract. I think the difference was he communicated his need for him and his partner to have extended family support for their first child to the club.

I'm absolutely sick of this homesick BULLSHIT.

It doesn't happen in ANY other sport around the world. NBA players jump from state to state almost every year. Players rarely ever request trades to their homes, they play where they are picked or where the money is at.

Harden up or GET OUT OF THE AFL.

The amount of people in this thread who are outraged is top notch. :drunk:

Loved the rant about how NBA players don’t get homesick.....we’ll just have to ignore that their pathway to the elite level is completely different and a different time in their lives.

How are adults surprised that amongst a group of 18yr olds who’ve almost never lived out of home, some of them get homesick when they have to move to the other side of the country?

If that's the case then he brought it on his self. No sympathy. Could've stayed with his family and worked at a Dominos like everyone else

Or they could have a crack and see how it pans out.

Or do people with doubts just give up and take no risks?

History would be pretty boring if people with doubts about their ability or feelings simply gave up and went and worked at Domino's.

He might. But until there is some evidence of that youre just muddying the waters.

Homesickness is common amongst young people who have left home for the first time. One would think the lure of professional AFL was a good counter. If its not, he should quit and go home. I for one wont give him any grief for deciding its not for him.

But the pure arrogance and entitlement to think you get that opportunity as well as your pick of where you play, after signing the contract to enter the draft on those terms.... it astounds me.

Jake Lever excepted of course

Hogan's dad died of cancer and stayed? He got testicular cancer and stayed? And was as happy to stay as he was to come home... how the **** is that weak or soft?

Especially since, you know. Jake Lever. Steven May.

Yet you have nfi what's happening in this kids life and are prepared to crucify him.

Thanks for taking the bait to prove my point :thumbsu:

But what if there was a real easy way to get back to where you wanted to live? The people you described probably needed to travel for work, These kids don't. If they have talent they can pick whatever club they want to play for.
That’s not how the AFL works, you have to nominate for the draft (with the risk of being drafted interstate) and the individual in question would have known that. If it was such a problem he should have nominated for the VFL draft, played a year or two in the state league, then nominated for the draft after discussions with a local club.

Most likely Ben king. Don’t the rents 5 mins from Moorabbin? And he said he’d never been been away from his brother before and wouldn’t know how to handle it. He’ll be at the Saints within a couple years I’d say

We've got twins in their mid 30s now. their world is really different to the rest of the family - they have always been cLoser to each other than the rest of us. They have spent time apart (including different continents) but always drift back together within a year. Won't be at all surprised if the king twins end up together.

Surely you need more than three months in a new place before you decide f you are actually homesick. Barely enough time to unpack and definitely not enough time to have worked out if there are people in your team/club you are going to build great relationships with.

How many of the girls are struggling with homesickness? They are so grateful to be playing professionally that they moving to wherever for the opportunity.
