Uni school, work project? Always tough if you are not interested.

Best thing is to think of it as a way of acquiring new knowledge. Try and read, understand something and as an opportunity to broaden your mind and knowledge. Best way to explain, analyse something is to understand it. Try and learn as much as you can, not simply do rote. So if possible select the bits that interest you and do that first.

If it is for work or something you are half interested in try and look at the end result. Have a long term plan in mind and stick to it.

VCE. It's just bloody boring.

Especially Methods.

Yeah we all get this.

Unless you're an idiot, you can do minimal work and still get into the degree you want to. And you can still do the same in uni (because uni is easy).

You'll be fine. The work always gets done.

trouble with this is it becomes habitual, and when you actually need to stay on top of your work and get ahead you can't do it.

Arts student perchance?

Lol, school...

In all seriousness everyone goes through times where motivation wanes. How you handle these times sets you up for life. Neglecting study and choosing to follow the well-trodden path of "meh" sets yourself up nicely for a lifetime of "meh."

No matter what you choose to be, and regardless of the amount of tertiary study it requires, it's better to form good habits early when it comes to finding motivation. Of course it's never too late if you don't, but better to train yourself early so you don't have to train yourself late.

Make a list of what you want to get done tonight, break it down into smaller chunks and have a break between each chunk to watch Downton Abbey or eat a caramello koala.

Yes, how you do in high school directly correlates to not only how well you'll do in life (which there's no barometer for anyway), but will epitomise who you are as a person and you're worth. Psh. Right...

You will be okay. The uni system is all myth and bullshit and driven by finances. High school teachers will tell you how hard you need to work, their self-anointed great work habits, and how you'll end up a loser because you hated Economics: but remember that they're pissing away their lives exercising their ego on kids. And that the school system is heavily tilted in a shit direction.

Do your work and try hard with the subjects you like. The ATAR system will be harsh to you if you hate maths and sciences. But if you're passionate about one subject and pretty good at a second other, you should be able to accentuate your skills in those. Go hard in those ones. Tread water with the subjects you find a chore and just try and get over the line. You'll be alright.

Hey, if you didn't have those teachers 'exercising their ego' you wouldn't be half the hipster you are today. What an awful statement. Don't think that they have a passion for teaching others something they are passionate about? Such an ignorant statement. They must have had very average teachers where you're from, or, maybe the just didn't care about you because you, obviously, don't respect them.
What are you studying?

Had a study type thing last year that was paid for and there's is a link between doing well in VCE and getting paid a lot more than others.

While VCE isn't the "be all and end all", I'd like to do well.

I think we already had this discussion in another thread.

Because having more money to spend on useless shit like four wheel drives, a wife you hate, and a cream brick house in Donvale is somehow The Goal?
