Yeh, I can understand we put up a much better fight today that we have in the past against a good team.

Yeh, I know we're improving.

However if we really want to change things at this club we need to realise we can't be so complimentary after losing games. Winning isn't everything, it is the ONLY THING.

While we all want to win we need to realise that in a rebuilding phase we have to take as many positives from every game win or loss.

But I agree f*** we should have won today.

Yep good call.

The doggies where top 4 last year, and accordingly belted us by almost 100.

Fast forward 12 months. And we loose by 7 with a couple of different calls and who knows...

Give it time... I'm calling 7 wins from rounf 11 in the run home...

As much as I disagree there's no way that they won't pull the pin and send people off for surgeries, rests etc.. if we hit 4 wins.

Assuming we don't beat Hawthorn or St. Kilda I can't see us winning three more games before R20 or so anyway but even though they'll admit it no coach is going to miss the opportunity to get P1&2. The players are always going to go 100% but there are ways and means of throwing it away.

Would still prefer to do it legitimately but I don't think we're good enough for more than 6 total and know for sure that the shutters will go up at 4. Sad way to live but the AFL are to blame.

For all the talk about different ways to work the draft to avoid this how come nobody has suggested merely abolishing priorities? If we get it then good luck to us, but with the same sick scenario being played out two of the last three years - and possibly again with Richmond next year - these idiots have to realise that it's not working.

Yep, I have to agree at least with abolishing 1st round PPs anyway. A 1st round PP doesn't just push everyone else a rung down the pecking order but you also get 2 bites at the cherry before more clubs even have a look in. As you say Super, if we get it then we will accept it with open arms as that is the rule of the day but the rule seriously does compromise the draft.

At most a 2nd round PP should be offered and that should be if you win 4 games or less for 2 consecutive seasons. We need to get the issue of tanking out of the game completely and I doubt the issue would arise with PPs or 1st round PPs abolished.

I gotta say its great to be in winning positions, but it hurts at the final siren. We gave em a good clap off today but you could tell that was little consolation to them. The bulldogs were looking over at the dees walking off, they didnt exactly look like winners today.

I'm not particularly fussed about the results at this point, it is clear that we are not going to be finals contenders. What is more pleasing though, is the progression we are showing. Without a number of our better players, we put in a good performance and pushed one of the league's better sides right until the end.

I think we have a side capable of excelling within the next couple of years, and if we are to have picks 1 & 2 on draft day, then there is no reason why we can't excel for a number of years consecutively, and perhaps even build a dynasty of sorts.

I think thats exactly wherand more e we will be in 2011 , 2012 and beyond. Our players are getting more game time under their belts. Have a look at Morton from yesterday. What a standout . Also , Grimes, Maric, Martin ...I agree, a basis for a "dynasty" is certainly there.

I know it was another loss but he I'm starting to get goose bumps watching the dee's lately going to jizz in my pants one day soon things looking good :thumbsu:

The good thing is we've managed to string together a few good efforts, rather than one good game and three bad ones. The guys are starting to gel together into a unit, and the game plan is coming together a bit as well. However for us to take the next step, we need a win, the guys need the confidence they will get from producing a four quarter effort and winning. This will simultaneously increase the quality of our skills, which is our biggest problem at the moment.

I love our hunger. We have 22 players each week that look like they would die for the jumper (OK, 21 if Bruce is playing....don't get me started about his shirk on the HFF late in the game)

Get some freaken perspective guys…

After 8 weeks we have only been blown away once by Port at Footy Park where we have always struggled! Bugger me we weren’t even beating Geelong well into the 2nd term. Were they in second gear? Who knows, but they made North look silly yesterday.

We have been in winning positions against: North, Adelaide, WCE, and the Doggies, and we beat Richmond. With a bit of luck we could have very easily been 5-3 and sitting in the top 4… And every week there is a common thread from opposition supporter. Geeze some of those kids of yours are alright.

Cale Morton will be the next Adam Goodes, and we haven’t even unleashed last year’s no. 1 pick. Have a look at all the other clubs talking up there first round picks from last year. And they’re right. They have all been very good. There is a very good reason every single club wanted Watts. Wait and see why…

Don't be so down about that Andy, I'm sure we'll thrash 'em next time

Seriously, we could easily be 5 & 3 right now IMO. I honestly think our full-strength team would be as good as almost anyone's (except perhaps Geelong) now, at this stage of our development. How good could this team be in the future?

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that we could have been 5-3 with a bit of luck. Maybe we might have snatched two wins against West Coast and the Bulldogs, but we simply don't have the skill level to win enough games.

I'd say the game against Adelaide was the one that got a away. We had 2 regulation shots on goal deep into the 4th to win it. We could have very easily been 4-4. The North game may have been a bit of a strech.

Regardless we have been ultra competitive in 7 of 8 games. The rebuilding is well ahead of time.

I've said it on here before (i think). We will win at least 6 of our last 11 games, excluding QB, which i think we'll also get. Meaning 8-14 for the year.
