Jackson, Thursty, Hughes?????

Fellas,
I missed yesterdays game so if you don't mind, how did these guys perform?
- Jackson - stats looked OK, how did he travel? Did he tag?
- Thursty - not a lot of touches, was he on Tarrent or Pavlich?
- Hughes - rapped he came in. Numbers looked OK. Was he?
- KKK - surely he is at Coburg for the rest of his career?

Thanks.

hughes was good great hands and a nice kick a disgrace he was in the ruck, i would of rather we had no one in the contest than risk him getting smashed

jackson pretty good

kingsley pitiful, another goal from the square which brings his tally to 2 goals spoonfed by richo busting his ass only for that hack to reap rewards

thursfield today showed why he isnt a fullback, if he cant play on pavlich or tarrant what does that say about his strength and fitness atm

I think it takes a good year to get over a knee injury not just physically but also mentally, rodan has proven that.

He is a fullback and can play on Pavlich and Tarrant but needs more time to get 100%. Raines and Bowden took those players for the whole game yesterday.

When he played on lloyd two weeks ago i think he proved he does alright in the position.

I still believe they brought him back to early and he should have gone thru Coburg.

yeah and he pumped Reiwoldt last year. He has speed, athleticism and smarts to make a great full back. Next year he will be bigger, fitter and more confident.

Look out next year, with a great spine of Thursfield, Polak, Foley, Hughes, Richo and we have Schultz and Reiwoldt.

Jackson - played on Haselby and kept him quiet (another scalp), may have finally found his role in the side, aggressive, has the tank to run with players and also the ability to focus on a role for the whole game.

Thursfield - thought he struggled yesterday and understandable as he is still coming back from the Reco. Will get better in time and as shown against Lloyd a few weeks back can match the big names.

Hughes - Tried valiantly in the ruck to create a contest which is all you could expect. Very strong 1 grab mark under pressure which is a great sign for the future. Hopefully Wallace persists with him for a few weeks now he is back in.

Kent - With Simmonds due back I would hope Wallace drops Kent back to Coburg. Would prefer to have Patto and Simmo rotating up forward and in the ruck while Hughes is played as a permanent forward. The only thing is it wont happen. Hughes is likely to be the one to go back which does not sit well with me and most others. Kent was brought in as insurance for Richo and Richo is playing, with Simmonds back I don't see why Kent should take a spot away from a kid.

Jackson - Average, his accumulative games will get him another chance against Melbourne but he is far from immuned from de-listment (he might have some trade value you now though)

Huges - Played in the ruck for portions and was hopeless. Had a few good leads and marks though. Slightly better then his infamous Port Adelaide match. Also he missed a goal from 35m out in the second which he really needed to kick (would have put us 34 point ahead - Foley and Kingsley also missed oppotunites from a similar distance which if they had converted could have seen us with a 40-50 point lead at half time rather then a 13 point one).

Thurstfield - Bad, didn't take Tarrant, Pavlich, Healand or Mundy. Took first gamer Ibborston who kicked a goal and had probably 5-10 touches. Although more importantly Thursty should have at least take Tarrant or Mundy. After a couple of ordinary matches since the Essedon game he should probably get a run at Coburg and let McGuane come in.

Kent Kingsley - Kingsley has kicked 2 goals for the Richmond football club in 3 games, both goals have been from 3m out, both were gifted through good work from Tuck and Richo. In this time he has also missed or passed of a few impotant goals. Needs to be dropped. Works harder the Schultz and can offer more around play, ALOT more at ground level, but given the oppurtunity Schultz would kick more goals.

Schultz + Kingsley = 1 Half Decent Footballer

Other players you might want to know about may include:
White: Had a poor game, fumbled alot, made few defensive errors, could e back at Coburg.

Edwards: Had a good 1st and 4th quater, 8 touches 2 goals, some good defensive work. He needs more game time at the Burgers though. Did enough not to be dropped

Hyde: First game for a few weeks, was solid, took them on and gave a few good don't argues, but made a few critical mistakes. Should play against Melbourne

Tambo: Very good game

Just on McGuane his shoulder is still playing up since the post fell on him expect him to remain at Coburg for a few more weeks.

Really...? Well I honestly believe Moore would have been more useful then Thursty yesterday, I like Thursty but he was useless, so maybe he could take his spot.

Polak on Nietz
Bowden on Robbo
Moore on Miller?

First three should all play next round, Kingsley's gotta go. 2 or 3 times he handballed at the feet of a team mate yesterday from about 2m away when they were running to have a shot on goal.

A question for someone, was it just me or did Richo spend a lot of time in the goalsquare yesterday? Late in the 3rd quarter and in the last when Freo got a bit of a roll on would have been the pefect time for him to come out to CHF, or drop into the hole at defensive 50m for a while.

Jacko a passmark, solid game
Thursty, struggled to be noticed, can do better
Hughes, couple of nice things, needs a position to settle
KKK...failed to fire, just about shot now

I thought jacko played on Black

Re: Jackson, Thursty, Hughes?????

Jackson as a run with player may have just earned himself a spot on the list next year, Kingsley should hellp Coburg towards a tilit at the VFL flag.Thursfield played on one of the best in the league, I forgive him.Hughes is really at the crossroads now.

Re: Jackson, Thursty, Hughes?????

Hughes is really at the crossroads now.
what makes you say this?

Bit hard to expect him to dominate when he's thrown into the ruck against Sandilands.

Looked good early, and did some nice things in his limited time on ground up forward.

Should definately be playing against Melbourne...if we drop Cleve and Kingsley stays i will be spewing.

Hughes at the crossroads? He has just begun his journey of becoming a great player

Rubbish, he played on Haselby and kept him to 10 touches, virtually unsighted for the match and got 17 touches himself.

Ummm, guess again, started on Tarrant and then moved onto Headland who had kicked 5 goals on Polo, Headland didn't do much after will went onto him. Bowden had Pavlich pretty well held until the last quarter, so was no reason to change the matchup.

Kent Kingsley - Kingsley has kicked 2 goals for the Richmond football club in 3 games, both goals have been from 3m out, both were gifted through good work from Tuck and Richo. In this time he has also missed or passed of a few impotant goals. Needs to be dropped.
Can't argue with that one, needs to go

Re: Jackson, Thursty, Hughes?????

Hughes is really at the crossroads now.

WTF, isnt he 19???

Put in the ruck against Sandilands.

Got 12 possessions in 53% total game time he got.

Get your head checked mate. :thumbsd:

Tagged Black who had virtually no influence on the game until the 2nd half, when Jackson was sent back to fill the hole Newman left. He then spent the rest of the match beating Mundy. Showing the same sort of rapidly improving foot skills Foley is. He's seriously putting the wind up Kane Johnson in the last couple of games. Yep, you read right...a potential delistee who has spent most of his time at Richmond playing for Coburg is out-tagging our captain...who was moved to tagging because he can't cut it as an attacking midfielder. Where Johnson (positionally) goes next is anyone's guess, but Jackson has other strings to his bow - forward or back.

Thursfield moved around a few 3rd/4th forwards - Bowden stood Pavlich and Raines mostly stood Tarrant. Just a game really, needs a fair bit of work to become the sort of defender who picks up ~15 possessions, runs off his man and links up to attack. He'll be right, just really needs this season and an injury free pre-season to become a solid performer. Could have restricted Tarrant and did play on him for a short while to good effect.

Hughes got 'Ray Halled'...played in attack, defense and the ruck and was basically a tall utility filling holes for the sake of team structure with never a chance to properly settle anywhere. Missed a very gettable goal, but nothing really to condemn his game. Would have liked to have seen him play a full game at CHF...but again, like Hall, he missed out while lesser players (Kingsley) failed miserably.

Kingsley? Slow, lazy, useless - with an ego. Can only impact on the scoreboard when he is given goals (lurking in the goalsquare by himself while his man runs off him). Pack skirting pussy with no physical impact whatsoever, chases his 5-6 kicks a game on the wing in pointless positions then chips 20m - slowly...while the opposition defense gets their zone together. Allowed Richo to be double teamed because he was running around by himself on the wing begging possessions from anyone silly enough to bring him into the game. Couldn't take a contested mark against anyone, never will, can't kick to save himself.

To be blunt, I'm mortally embarrassed to see him in our colours.

Bowden did well on Pavlich because Polak played very well as the spare man. When Freo started manning up on Polak with Thornton, Polak was less effective which exposed Bowden a bit more, and this happened even more when we had to move Polak into the ruck late because Pattison was knackered. Unfortunately when Bowden was one on one and the ball came in quickly, Pavlich dominated. We did well as a team to stop that happening for most of the match, but it was just another sign of our inexperience and lack of fitness that we couldn't do it for long enough.

Thanks Razor... very comprehensive.:thumbsu:
Very pleased to hear Jackson did pretty well again. It is true that he hasn't shown much over the past couple of years but I have been hopeing. Something about him looks the goods. The more ball he gets etc... Sems to be smart too. (Was in school I hear) Pretty nice size as well and shows a bit of agro & pride.
Could it be... a possible... future leader? (Sh1t I've said it!):o
