8/9 missed on port

What I learnt - cats no more than middle of the road in 2012, as suspected. The decline in reality had its seeds we'll and truly sown in 2011 but lady luck dealt them an extraordinary hand throughout that whole year. Probably make the 8 this year but no chance of a flag

Pies, similar to cats, on the road to decline. Their best 22 is probably still the best around on it's day but as we all know you never get your best 22 out there and there's little depth at pie land. Can't win it this year bar a Geelong -esque 2011 run with luck from here

Flag is effectively a 2 horse race - Carl or haw just win it from here. Eagles still a bit off

Biggest improvers - expect the tigers to make a statement at geel this week. North as well

Wow thanks for that. Guess we can play the Granny then?

Grand finalists let me down with tips: 7/9

What I learned:
  • Carlton are better than I gave them credit for
  • Judd has played himself into form (happened in the tigers game, about halfway through). Has remembered how to kick goals, unfortauntely for the rest of us.
  • Collingwood has something seriously wrong, and Luke Ball is as big a loss as Lenny Hayes was to St Kilda the previous year.
  • Sydney continue to get the job done, quietly achieving
  • Melbourne have lost it all, but at least Mitch Clark is giving everything he has
  • You DO NOT try defensive tactics against a side coached by Ross Lyon
  • Bulldogs are completely impotent
  • Gold Coast aren't very good, but you still need to pay them respect
  • Ablett is back to untaggable form
  • Nathan Bock is better than I ever thought he was, and he is welcome at Hawthorn any time he feels like changing jumpers again.
  • West Coast have also mastered the manouvering arts.
  • Adelaide aren't that good. Thanks for playing our backline into form :thumbsu:
  • North have taken another step
  • Geelong aren't winning (all of) those tight games at the end like they used to. (Obviously still doing it against the hawks - but they've given the opposition head starts in every game and only been able to come back successfully once).

7/9

Collingwood are a long way short of where they were this time last year.
Carlton are absolutely flying.
North have improved and will be around the mark of the 8, but Geelong will finish higher.
Tom Scully provides better value for money than my DT midfielders.:)
Luke Shuey will finish 2012 with more over the shoulder free kicks than Joel Selwood.
Rugby League is weaker for Israel Folau playing in the AFL, but the AFL is not stronger for it.

I learnt that I have got no idea who to pick in the Dogs v dees game next week:confused:

Whatever the case, I think I also learnt that I am unlikely to tip either team against anyone but the Suns and Giants this season.
