How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

HELP !'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

Brown's fine.

Bigger problems lie elsewhere. Backs would be under a lot less pressure if the forwards could start kicking goals, not points imo.

Bit harsh Browns fine he will be our FB for ten years his young and hasnt played many games, played on one if not the best tall forward in the AFL.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

He just has a technical problem in his body work. It's so damn obvious. He doesn't push into his opponent's side hard which means he is always trying to spoil with hands and that's why he gives away plenty of chopping the arm type frees.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

In answer to the thread topic;

Short term = Prestigiacomo

Long Term = Lachlan Keefe or someone else

He looked terrible today, it's time to stop talking about the great year he had 2-3 years ago when he restricted the likes of Pavlich and Riewoldt.

He has to improve, or all he will ever be good for is backup.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

more like how do we solve a problem like lance frankilin. near on impossible when he gets going, and tore apart reid as well. brown was well beaten, but lay off. floggish thread.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

Given the speed of the ball coming in and the amount of space Franklin and co had, even Presti would have had a bag kicked on him.

Such a stupid thread, give the kids a break.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

Scarlett does well on most forwards, but then again he's generally considered one of, if not the, best full back of all time.

To get done by Buddy isn't the problem. Some poor decisions should be scrutinised but it's not like we should be delisting him lol.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

matty thats way too harsh.
thought he smashed tippet. and today he got beaten by who again?
oh right, the best forward in the game, an athlete built for football, who presti himself has struggled on. A lot of folks were calling for presti's head when he was 21. He'll be a great fullback for us for many years, beating the rougheads, tippets, and pods type forwards.
Buddy's a tough match up for anyone. we don't have someone who'd going to take him out of a whole game.

i'm wrapped with Browny's progress and actually think we should give presti another week, browny will beat hall he's the perfect match up.

i reckon Browny now > Presti at same age, if only for his thumping left boot and size.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

Why wouldn't you play Harry on Buddy?

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

Browny has been good for 3 weeks and good today until the ball started coming in too quickly and he lost some composure.

There are not many clubs who can stop a 196cm athletic 100+kg player when their midfield is on top.

What Nathan Brown lacks at the moment is the confidence he had in his first year.

He's done well to come back into the side given his interrupted season.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

had the wrong match up in the first half, he shouldve been on roughie from the start

buddy is all class and was today far too good for him, but he's getting better

he'll be fine, hes been bloody good in the majority of games he'd played this season and will get better with more game time

Agree Buddy Just has Fun with Brown and then went to Roughead and he was let off the Hook because Reid was taken off him

His 2008 Season looks like a Fluke Now

KPP of 21 years of age, of course he is going to be inconsistent!!!!

For a strong body he doesn't apply much physical presence.
He needs to crash packs, he looks like a girl the way he goes at half the contests.

I was so suprised seeing him next to Buddy. I've never thought of him as being a physical player, yet he stands next to buddy as an equal. Height was almost identical. He's 195 and near 100 yet almost gives nothing.

Sav #2.

Hopefully he can get some confidence into his game and influence contests a bit more.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

Brown did well today by any stretch. Left to play one on one with the best forward in the competition - (including Riewoldt and Brown)- if Collingwood were full on today, Jolly, Fraser, Maxwell and O'brien would have run off and played 3rd man up consistantly, jumped in to Franklin, made pests of themselves and told Brown to run off at every chance. Today was more about Reid and Brown being educated for the next ten years about how to play great forwards one on one, remember, Roughhead hardly got a touch and his only goal came from a terrible holding the ball decision. Quite frankly, if the footy was delivered like that to Cloke and Dawes, I would have expected a better result than Franklin & Roughhead achieved.

Re: How do you solve a problem like Nathan Brown ?

This year Nate's focus has been on his offensive game where he has been working on his drive from defence, ball use and other areas more so than his defencive work. Over the offseason he will continue to develop. He is heading in the right direction and is still an ok defender who will develop into a very good defender next season.

He put in the work last season and those who saw pictures of the sheer size he put on over the break would clearly be able to recognise that he is putting in all the effort and is getting the results.

Also being Hawthorn I'm not surprised he had a whole bag kicked on him. Franklin would expose any defender so burning him on today's performance is pretty harsh.

MM can only have been trying to hide his final's intentions in playing Brown on Franklin and Reid on Roughead. I don't agree that Franklin dominated Reid in the way that he did Brown. Reid got far more body on Franklin than Brown did and looked a better match up than Brown. Presti had better be back for the Bulldogs because Barry Hall will maul Brown. Rosejam summed up Brown's major problem - gives away free kicks because he does play flesh on flesh.

he got smashed by Buddy in 2008 as well, so where was the fluke?

Good young defender, will be the long term Presti replacement no probs
