You could say the same about Gasper, Chaffey, Tivendale, Kellaway. Note the common theme in all of them: ...

With the team being 6-2, you can't possibly tell me they have had no influence on those results.

:)
great posting froars

Just out of interest, I wonder if there is a player in the competition that is getting more possessions per game time than Campbell this year. Would anyone be able to calculate a stat like that?

He's averaging 19 possessions a game playing two thirds of the game at most.

As is to be expected this isn't good enough especially when he makes some clangers (unlike everyone else in our team). By the way anyone have a comparison on the amount of clangers Campbell has made this year in comparison to his team mates?

If people haven't understood this man's worth by now they never will.

Unlike most Ive thought Campbell has been very good this season (bar last game). He rotates though well and adds a smart brain as well as a good skills and a mature body.

Whilst Tuck is not yet to play alot of games, Cogs & Hyde comming back from serious injuries & Deledio, Tambling, Jackson and co. being very young Cambo is an important part of the side.

Yeah Campbellls fine. He's being a solid contributor every week.As JohnF says, his possession/time on ground ratio is very high.Yes hes slowed right down but he still has smarts.I have no problem with the Wayner seeing out this year with dignity. He's been a great servant of the club.

This thread is about Chaffey though,to me,despite having a mature body he is an absolute liability. Each game if you check out who the opposition best player is it's invariably Chaffey's opponent. This week Weaver wants to put him on an Aka or Lappin. The mind boggles.

Our choices to deal with a very good opposition midfielder (say Lappin) ...

1. Put Chaffey on him. Lappin will have it 25 times, be the best player. Chaffey will get it 15 times and provide some tackling and physicality around the ball. We give up little and get a little in return.

2. Put Hyde or Tuck on him. Give up one of our 25 touch guys and see them get it 15 times. See the opponent get it 20 times and still be one of the other teams best. We give up a lot for little return.

3. Put Jackson and Roach on him in a tag team. Opposition guy gets it 35 times and is their best player. Our guys combine for 10 touches and provide little else. We give up nothing but get nothing.

4. Move Newman from defence where he is playing well. Keep opposition guy to 15 touches but have their small forward kick 4. We give up a bit but lose out elsewhere.

Chaffey is not a good option, but doesn't mean he is not the best option available to us.

I see it this way Weaver. If we use Chaffey on Lappin,we will definately lose that match up.Lappin will be the most damaging player.Even if Chaffey does get 15 possesions 8 or 9 of them wont be to our advantage.I didnt think it possible but his disposal seems to be getting worse.

If Tuck goes head to head with Lappin theres a reasonable chance we can break even, worse case scenarion 60-40 to Lappin.lappin gets 28-tuck gets 23 possies, thats fine.

Cogs can go head to head to head with Black as he did with Stevens.Resonable chance to break even or win,Blacks form has been patchy.

Newman can tag Aka who spends alot of time in the forward line so Newman wont be out of position. He can follow him into the centre,as he did during the Optus Oval practise match.Aka is integral to Brisbane fortunes.Without his drive and moral lifting goals it's alot harder for them to win.Newman has done excellent jobs on the oppositions most damaging small forward/midfielder like Ablett almost every week this year.He is the best suited for Aka by far.

This leaves a combination of Hyde/Deledio/Tambling to be the third midfielder against who ever they use in replacement of Power.Another opportunity to win or at least break even.

Why couldnt Jackson do an equal job to Chaffey?

People have formed their opinions of Campbell and now days just let the good/OK stuff wash over them, and jump up and down "see, see told you" when he makes his 3-4 mistakes a game. If Jackson played exactly the same game there would be a 100 post thread about how he was going to be a superstar.

Lets just get over Campbell. He is playing his last season, he's been a decent servant to the club during hard years, he's playing a servicable role in his last year, and he is not a Richmond Champion, and never was a great capatain.

Makes me sick that ppl throw his name up there with the Barletts, Weightmans, Riolis, Harts and Raines. But he doesnt deserve to cop it for giving a 50 away FFS

Chaffey gets the draw on Lappin. Tuck, Johnson and Coughlan take advantage to be our best players. Forza Chafster ;)

Lappin was very good.

Jackson would have done an equal job to Chaffey.

how do u know that?

that was chaffs best game of the season by a mile, personally i think at least broke even with lappin maybe even beat him... i dont rate chaffs, never have but credit where its due, he hopped on board last night and should get the kudos for a job well done

It was definitely Chaffeys best game of the season, but still 8 crap games and one decent performance isn't good enough
If he stays in for the rest of the season I just hope its to raise his trade value

chaffey clearly gave josh carr a bath too... hasnt been the worst infact players that have played this year that have been our worst players have been

jackson, tivendale and krakoure

G Tivendale is the one who should be drop he turns the ball over all the time M Chaffey has been doing ok get off his back

They have all had their moments and each has had some games they would rather forget. When you are winning 7-2 I'd want some really good reasons to drop anyone at all. That record means your opposition is the ones looking for answers and alternatives, not us! If it aint broke.....
