now that I'm managing to calm down after the gift from Essendon to the Saints, I've had a bit of a look at the draw.

Assuming everything goes to plan, and IF we can keep winning, I think our line up for the rest of the season would see us playing the teams below.
Am I thinking correctly with this run?

1st week Collingwood at home
2nd week Saints at mcg (if saints lose to geelong)
3rd week Hawthorn at mcg(assuming they beat the bulldogs)
4th week Geelong at mcg

how far do people think we can go?

I don't see any reason we couldnt win the first 2, (even though the saints seem to have the wood on us) and we can push Hawthorn.
Its not all doom and gloom.

Ahh, I doubt we will beat Collingwood. But wouldn't it feel amazing to beat them in a final. We have to overcome huge odds now, there's no turning back.

Could be interesting if the Dogs get a win (I really doubt it) in the first week. We could then end up playing them in a prelim. Unlikely I know, but stranger things have happened.

I think its a fairly good run, would have preferred the Swans or North in the first week though.

Though I'm gutted at loosing a top four spot, I'm actually looking forward to a home final against the Pies. I think we can do some real damage to other teams premiership aspirations. Next Saturday night I hope to be ginning from ear to ear after sending the Colliwobbles out of the finals. Then with a bit of luck, say 'bad luck' to the Saints the weekend after. They must be the most underperforming team in VIC with the draft picks they have had - I would hate to follow them. I think it will be a Hawks v Cats GF, as it should be but you never know. The footy gods may smile on us once again - Go the Crows!

...and all this time, i thought winner of 5vs8 plays loser of 2vs3... the above is very similar to having come 4th, but just without the double chance.
honestly, no team really looks unbeatable, other than Geelong and playing Hawthorn would also be really tough...but possible. the rest are winnable.

Beating Collingwood is going to be difficult. They have an amazing record at AAMI stadium, and will be looking to bounce back after that pathetic display against Fremantle. On the plus side they will be fatigued from the flight to Perth, so we should probably get over the line...

Can't see us getting past 2nd week of finals though.

This has 1998 all over it.

Was the last time a player kicked 100 goals in a season.
We finished with a 13-9 record and were in fifth spot at the end of the minor round.

Seriously, we can get over both Collingwood and Saints (assumption they will get belted by Geelong) but will stumble in the third week but at least we have a home final to start with - no travelling.

lets say we get past the Pies, we will catch the Saints on a 6 day break :)

I like our draw :thumbsu:

We wont make the GF and thats all that counts

Just another 'great' learning experience for the kids :o

I seriously dont know if I even have the heart to go support the Crows this week, call me weak. But I just cant bring myself to watch another finals campaign that I know will only end in me getting all angry and throwing drink bottles around.

Thought the same thing about the Saints last week.:(

Why the negativity? We are at home, Collingwood were shit on the weekend, they are coming back from WA and they will be missing Burns, Didak and Shaw. If you dont consider that a winnable game then why were we even contemplating Geelong.

Then don't go, we won't miss you, and give your ticket to someone who wants to barrack for the Crows.

On an unrelated note, this means Collingwood have to travel two weeks in a row. I suspect there will be an inquiry at VFL house tomorrow, or at least a Royal Commission.

Its a finals...how can I give my tickets to someone when I havent already got them.

You wouldnt believe my finals record anyway. 2002 Prelim, 2005 QF, 2006 Prelim, 2007 EF

Throw in a 2005 prelim in there and its quite distressing.

Collingwood strugled to score on Friday night against Fremantle - they wont be able to kick a winning score againt us - Second week against StKilda will be Harvey's 14th sendoff game and it might be getting a bit tired by then - I like our chances!

exactly right

if we cant beat them after they played so poorly Friday night (wellingham, Stanley, Dick, Bryan etc in their side) then we are no good. And we are pretty good
