Preview How far will we go???

We should beat North but it is by no means an easy task. They were the form team of the competition 2 weeks ago.

If we win, I think we'll be playing the Pies and that's a 50/50 game. Not confident but the Pies haven't been in the best of form recently but are still dangerous. My guess is the Pies will beat us in a close one.

If we were to win the semi final we'll find it hard to beat Adelaide or Sydney away, though I believe Sydney is the slightly harder team to beat than Adelaide.

I don't think any side in the 8 is unbeatable, even away. That being said, it's the consistency you need to make it that's what will knock us off. Honestly, when we lost Lecca and Nico I thought we were done. Proud of the year we've had, particularly with the year Kennedy's had.

On a side note, I remember Robbo getting into us about the "injuries" excuse earlier in the year. Though that's what a lot are preaching about Carlton and Essendon's year.
Who was making the excuse, not worsfold. He is an essendon supporter and we had 9 players out against them.

I think we should at least do the PF. We should have been top 4 so that is what you would expect of a top four team.

I know we can beat the Kangaroos - but it will be a tough task against Collingwood at the MCG.

I know its a cliché but more than any team, bar maybe North and Freo, we can't afford to carry anyone. Thought Gaff and Kerr were down against the hawks. JK will be much better for the run. Embers had got a bit of the ball. Strijk went missing. Hill was quiet. We were well beaten in the clearances. The last quarter flattered us. Missed Rosa.

That said, I'd back us vs North and the Pies at the G.

Will beat North comfortably. In fact I think it will be a landslide.
Would be pretty confident of knocking off the Pies the following week.
And the Crows away don't scare me.
It's not impossible to get there.

Yeah I'm with you. JK and Embley will be better for the run also.

Apart from the 1 qtr against the Hawks I thought we did pretty well, and to be honest with 10 mins left in that game I thought we were going to run over the top of them.

We have a good record against the Crows IIRC??

Tbh I didn't think a near full strength Hawks were that special on Friday, they jumped us early (partly due to our own poor conversion) but were far from dominant the next 3 terms. So happy enough to play either them or Pies next week, assuming we get the job done this one, as expected. We will beat Adelaide anywhere, anytime come finals Happy getting more finals footy into our young guns too.

In finals perhaps, but this year they're the one team I can't see us beating - they've beaten us so comprehensively at AAMI both times (and I'm including the NAB Cup GF because it's the sort of thing that once you're in you'll try win it). Take our chances vs them over here, but obviously that can't happen.

Confident of beating North at home. Probably the best result possible for us to be playing them. Geelong and Fremantle are in form, not saying North aren't but they haven't beaten us in Perth in a while have they?
We could have been a little shaky against Geelong or Freo at home but i cant see us losing to the Kangaroos.
Taking it one game at a time but i think a semi's exit against the Pies at the G is the most realistic outcome. A common place to exit for the 5th place side. Carlton last year finished 5th yeh?

Towards the end of 2010 they beat us, can't remember the last time we lost to them over here before then. Do we really want to count a 2010 loss? ;)

Yeah, Carlton finished 5th. They belted Essendon then just lost to us the following week (they were so brave). If we had a similar finals series to that I wouldn't be complaining.

Speaking with my head not my heart here... Basically our exit comes the first time we play a decent team away from home.

In all honesty North could do us these weekend, but i'm confident we'll get up. Which means a repeat against the Pies or Hawks obviously. Preferably, i would rather play Hawthorn at the MCG then the Pies.

For mine, If (and this is a big if) we get up this week then I genuinely see us as a 50/50 vs the pies at the G. I feel we match up on them better than say the Hawks or Sydney.
If we get lucky there then things get real interesting. Don't like our chance at all vs Sydney away, but Adelaide...mmmm

Whats the distance between perth and the G? thats about how far we'll go.

We potentially have to beat Sydney to get to the GF. Distance to Sydney > distance to Melbourne.

I think we will probably beat North Melbourne and lose in the SF.

EF North @ Subi - 65/35

SF Hawthorn @ MCG - 20/80
SF Collingwood @ MCG - 40/60

PF Sydney @ ANZ - 30/70
PF Adelaide @ AAMI - 30/70

GF Hawthorn @ MCG 15/85
GF Collingwood @ MCG 30/70

We will beat Norf
We won't beat Pies
If we beat Pies we won't beat Sydney if they win
If we beat pies we will beat Adelaide if they win
If we beat Adelaide we won't beat Hawks in GF
If we beat Adelaide we can beat Sydney in GF

I don't think we will progress past the Pies/Hawks in week 2.
;)

Next year is our year.

We dont have enough consistent performers( a lot of our important players are very young though) week in week out to challenge the best away from IMO, Prelim is probably as far as we will go this year.

More games into our young guns Nicnat,Shuey,Gaff,Masten,Selwood,Darling etc including 2-3 finals and we'll be ready to challenge the best.

We should beat Norf at home. On form we would then have a good chance against Collingwood (if we get them) but the Sunday game against Norf is a real bummer. Assuming we win it, we would probably face another 6-day turnaround and trip to Melbourne, which is still a real problem for us as we saw against Hawthorn on Friday.

Do you think having a 9 Day break leading up to this match slightly offsets the 6 day break we'll get for the week after? Guess it depends how taxing the match will be. Let's hope we smash the Roos and go into cruise control.
