Anyone heard from any of your sources how Bucks is going as a forward coach?? Any feed back from the players????
I think he will be great in that role, as he is in any role.

I think certainly the forwardline could do with a remodeling of sorts and this year is the year it needs to happen. Was the right move putting him as forward coach as the forwardline would possibly be the biggest responsibility as it needs the most improvement structurally.

I think it will be a rotational type thing where players such as Davis, Didak and Thomas play time both up forward and in the midfield. Then Fraser in the Ruck + Forward. With only probably JA/ Rusling/ Cloke as the only real perminants.

I know Buckley has put allot of effort into teaching Didak how to go at stoppages.

Next year I would give him a crack at the midfield trying to develop the young brigade.

Cheers for the feedback guys, but has anyone spoken to any of the players about what changes he is making and how he is getting his message across??????

Well said. Needs some improvement mentally as well. Anthony seems like a real head player as does Trav. If Bucks can coach them (Trav in particular, but Jack has his dull days) to consistency he'll have earned his pay.

We need more Bucks threads on here. Loving that he's coaching :thumbsu::thumbsu:

I think this will probably happen.

As I understand it they rotate the roles around each year so that all the assistant coaches get experience coaching each area of the ground. So Buckley is doing the forwardline this year to see if he can get improvements out of them this year as they probably the most important area to improve to progress further as our midfield is naturally a lock to improve at this stage.

Then in 2011 moving to the midfield makes sense as that is where he played and he can share his experience with them then and help the young group develop once the forwardline has settled which for now must be top priority.

That's my thinking, and I would say probably Collingwood's also.

He has also been working with some of the mids fwiw Beams has already commented on how great it's been getting tips off Buckley from a poster off NicksBB, I know he is the forward coach before anyone chimes in.

I actually think they will make him in charge of defence in 2011, he knows how to run the midfield and the club would want to give him defence coaching role before becoming head coach in 2012 imo.

The one thing about the defence though is that it is pretty settled.

Yes it would give him a greater knowledge of a different area of the ground which is important for his development obviously.

But for the development of the young midfield of Beams, Sidebottom, Thomas and others I think he would be very handy.

Will be an interesting decision as to which area he will coach next season.

I think it's a 50/50 call.

Loki's call makes a lot of sense to me. Buckley's apprenticeship requires more familiarity and hands on experience, working with the defence - for his own education.

Buckley's influence I think will be enormous for the confidence. Someone's already noted that Beams has gravitated toward him immediately and learnt more in two weeks than anything leading up to it. You think Buck's won't be dispensing midfield advice to anyone who wants to know? The man is a machine that never quits dispensing goodies.

Also great to have someone coaching who is so evidently super-fit and can get in there and explain things physically.

I know you shouldn't read much into photo's, but the team just looks confident and strong this year. Very, very exciting years to come.

I tend to agree, especially when I hear that O'Bree and Beams are getting advice regarding the midfield and the work with didak. Something tells me Nathan can multi task, so for me it is forwards this year, defence next and probably working with one or two of the midfielders at a time on specific aspects of their game (like Didak at the stoppages as the article suggests).
