Recruitment is such an art. Swans have done so well over the last twenty years to build the list that won in 2005 and then rebuild while staying competitive.

Geelong are following a similar approach in looking at the character of the draftees. I thought Geelong would slide this year but last Friday against Hawks was very impressive while playing a lot of youth.

I thought we were in trouble the other week after losing to Port with the injuries finally catching up and not enough depth. Everitt and Rampe have been a revelation but I agree that a replacement for Teddy will be the key. The Team with the best Full Back usually wins the flag.

Can't see Carlton giving him up cheaply, Will probably cost us our first round pick.

If we could manage to get him for our second I would say yes in a heartbeat... but its doubtful.

Young players take a bit of time to develop though and he has been alright when given a chance, will be a very good player in a year or two.

It will take a pick between 14-20 to prise him from Carlton I would expect even with Carlton already having Henderson and Jamieson

Hard to say given that injuries can change the course of a season.....it is true that you need your best out there to win the flag, but not saying it can't be done.

If we can get a kpd from another team il be stoked.very happy with the youth we have and seem to be evenly spread across the field . Our midfield will be great for the next 7-10 years ( given we can keep them all of coarse ) and our forward line will be ok for the next 5-7. We have good small to medium defenders in rampe, everitt, Johnson . Just need that one vital cog and we can be competitive for the better part of the next decade. I know it's a lot ifs and buts but I'm purely speculating on the list we have at the moment

Agreedthat a KPD is needed. Window is open next 2 years realistically until Goodes, Bolton, and Okeefe go. Then, who knows? Midfield stron, forwards strong, defence shaky 3 years from now. No doubt the recruitment team are on the case..

What do you think of Mitch Brown from Geelong has been playing really well in the VFL we could use him as a KPD poor bloke starved of opportunities seems like the sort of guy we go after.

I don't know when the window after 06 officially closed, so I'd say the window from '12 will be able to be opened again anytime in the next 6 years.

Agreed ,mids taken care of for for at least 2 years. Forward line really unsettled, mids will carry the can
goal kicking wise, but defense is our biggest worry, we need to rebuild our aging backline.

Mids taken care of for longer than 2 years Kennedy , Hanners , Mitchell , Parker, Jacks, Lamb and Jetta will carry us for along time hopefully Perris will be another one to add in.
