Admittedly I don't know much about him, but here's how I see it...

He can play either PF or C, combined there is 96 minutes for those positions in the game. Bosh and O'Neal (presuming he's healthy) will get at least 36 minutes each leaving 24minutes, most of which will go Bargnani and the remaining will fall on Kris Humprhies who showed improvement (little as it many have been) last season. So I think he will spend a fair amount, if not all, of his time in the D-League.
Yes, he is considered a 'project' so this shouldn't be a suprise but because of the limited minutes that will be available to him during his first 2 years, I don't think any other team will be interested in picking him up as they will not have seen enough of him. So the continuation of his career will rest with Toronto, but as they will have two first round picks whom they will have under contract by the time his contract is up, I think this makes Jawai very expendable. So I don't see him signing a second contract in the NBA.
A quick check I did on all PF's & C's drafted pick 40 or below between 2000-2004 whom are still in the league (I chose this range because for these guys to still be in the league they would've had to have signed a second contract):
Of the 41 drafted in this range during this period only 4 are still in the league.

What do you think?

Jermaine is a mortal lock to miss at least 30 games so he could have plenty of exposure.

lol

add Bargnani's 30 "I'm not interested today" games and Jawai could almost be starting ;)

Maybe they'll try the softy at SF again.

He really should try to become a Millsap type, hitting the boards really hard and playing good D.

Bosh won't, not sure if JO still can and Bargnani couldn't defend a 15 year old trainee in a Mr Whippy van (Im not sure exactly what I mean with this analogy).

That team desperately needs a scrapper, and he should fill try to fill that void

Millsap plays awful D. It's his one major flaw. iirc, he just about led the NBA in fouls/minute last year.

Dale Davis would be a better type to aspire to, I reckon.

btw, I don't think Jawai can play the 4 in the NBA, he'll be strictly a 5. So can't see him getting too many minutes unless Jermaine goes down, and even then he's competing with Kris Humphries, who's not a total chump. Guys his size generally get second contracts, but I can't see him ever being more than a bi-annual exception guy.

re: Bargnani, it's 2 years on, and I still can't believe they blew the 1st pick on someone who a) plays the same position as their franchise player and b) has exactly the same obvious flaws as said franchise player. Colangelo never took enough heat for that decision.

Jermaine was still able to play excellent D on 1 leg.

He's still young, has an abundance of talent, will be a superstar if he can continue to improve.

Should get some minutes in the pre season stuff. Lets see how he goes there.

spot on:thumbsu:
time on the floor will determine if jawai makes it or not
if he impresses well enough in his minutes through the pre-season we will play games this season (his bound to with jermaine in front of him) if he cant hack it he will be off to the d-league or wherever he ends up or burried in towels on the bench
lets hope his talent shines through :D
