How have you kept such a high ranking with all the trades?

Fair question haha. Basically anytime someone got injured that didn't look like it would be one week, even if it was two, I traded. If someone had a high BE but didn't get as close as I liked to it in a couple of games, I traded. If someone got suspended - i.e. Sicily, I traded. And if someone who was a rook or premo kept under-performing, I traded.

My day off, so here's a breakdown of my trades for the season and what worked and what didn't

Round 1

Duncan > Cogs (High BE and had not much else to do. Duncan ended up getting injured and missing 3 weeks so was kissed)
Lobb > Zuthrie (Lobb hit BE but did not perform well, traded)

Round 2

Lloyd > Laird (Laird was only going up an McVeigh had stolen points. In hindsight, wrong move. 1st mistake)
Sicily > Taranto (Taranto looked good and Sic was suspended)

Round 3

Billings > Franklin (Franklin going well and Billings not performing against decent sides)
Barry > Jacobs (Barry not performing and looking like being dropped and Jacobs coming off a 115 and best 22)

Round 4

Petracca > Crowden (Screwed up here and should have gone Cunico, but wanted DPP. 2nd mistake of the season)
Zuthrie > Seeds (Wanted Seeds in and Zuthrie was gonna be dropped soon)

Round 5

Franklin > McInerney (Franklin injured and McInerney named)
Holman > Mirra (Reactionary to Holman 30's)

Round 6

Mirra > Macrae (Mirra dropped, but should have held him as back in the next week. 3rd mistake)
Banfield > Zerrett (Banfield peaking and Zerrett showing something)

Round 7

English > Mutch (4th mistake and biggest for the season. Should have selected Ronke and would probably have been top 100 if I did. Mistake that defined my season)

Nic Nat > Kreuzer (Bye planning)

Round 8

JOM > Phillips (Reactionary, probably should have held)
Christensen > McLean

Round 9

Finlayson > Rice
Crowden > Darling (Darling injured for a 5 after scoring 151 the previous week. 1st carnage of the season)

Round 10

Taranto > Rockliff (Reactionary with Hopper back in)
Missed other trade as I was overseas and didn't calculate the time properly (5th mistake)

Round 11

Darling > Ahern
Laird > Brayshaw (Should have held Laird as my bye scores would not have been overly affected. 6th mistake)
Mutch > Zorko (Bye planning)

Round 12

Murray > Wingard
Phillips > Wilson (Should have gone Giro instead. 7th mistake)
Jacobs > Ablett (Bye planning)

Round 13

Savage > J. Smith
T. Kelly > Gaff (Good trade, but in hindsight should have traded someone else and held Kelly)
Macrae > J. Kelly (Good form and seemed like a good trade, but hasn't lived up to expectation)

Round 14

Kreuzer > Grundy
Waterman > Sier

Round 15

Zorko > Narkle (Should have held Zorko but thought Curnow tag would affect him too much. Did for the first half but then went huge the next half. Went to Lloyd so didn't lose anything)
Rice > Lloyd

Round 16

Fritsch > Laird
Andrew Brayshaw > Selwood

Round 17

Doedee > O'Riordan
Ahern > Dangerfield

Happy reading haha. Thought that might be a good guide for anyone looking at what to do and what not to do throughout a season. Big lessons for next year as this is my second season taking it seriously

Good read.
You've certainly had a lot of solid in's during the year and been unlucky with a few rookies/injuires.

Down to 6 originals - that includes Darcy Cameron which is a ??

My starting team was awful, with the likes of brandon ellis, JJ, Libba. My mid price gambles all failed. Cant imagine theres anything to learn by that.....

That said, having checked through the trades, there are interesting ones, like trading out Jack Redden and JOM who are both doing well now. So basically failed in all mid pricers, either by them failing or me just going to early.

Def : Laird and McGrath
Mid: Gibbs (With a minute remaining last week I traded out Shiel for J. Selwood)
R: Gawn
For: De Goey, Pertracca, D. Smith and Taranto.

Wow this is crazy, I've traded so much more than some of you guys haha. Hasn't been too horrible as I'm ranked 750th or so, so some of it must have paid off

All I have is: Titch, Heeney, Smith, Yeo, Gawn, Whit and most suprisingly, Neale

Traded out Laird and Lloyd and back in and Cogs has been in since Round 2

My fantasy team is like the Geelong of AFL - always changing line ups

If you don't count players I have traded out and back in I only have 5 of my original 22.

Rank 725th.

Oh wow, even less than me. Seems that we've both adopted similar strategies and traded a bit, which seems to have worked relatively well given that we're both in the top 1000

Laird*, Lloyd
Mitchell, Merrett, Neale
Gawn, Cameron
McLean, D Smith

9 if you count Laird who I traded out then back in
