It has to because this year is atkins 4th year as a rookie so he has to be elevated or delisted (obviously being elevated).

last year the AFL made a change to the rule allowing players to stay an extra year on the rookie list (making it 4 years). This was due to a lack of development opportunities at the state level because of COVID. Not sure whether they are going to do it again this year but it might be what Geelong are holding out for.

All SSP and MSD players are counted as rookies. It's kinda stupid but that's the way it is.
