Not sure about the other indy's - but Hobart need a new hospital. What Wilkie settled on was a pittance which helps no one.

There are lots of places which need a new hospital just as much as Hobart. Abbott would know, he was health minister responsible for stripping fund out of them.

In Tasmania - see Bass and Braddon. The Hobart hospital has been a problem long before Abbott was the health minister. It is the wrong location - too small - all they have done (this includes both sides of politics) is throw bad money on refurbishing a site that is just not suitable. Taking your point on the amount of hospitals around needing help - not every one of them has a very marginal seat held by an independant. Porkbarrelling sucks - but it gets results for constituents.

The coalition invented pork barreling & Howard was a master of it who made it look like a helping hand to the salvos where as Abbott just threw a billion here & a billion there in the hope of winning friends.
