Did we not win??

just finished watching the game, and i can't understand how we managed to not win this game. I can't understand how riewoldt and morton managed not to kick a goal to level it up. I cannot understand how we just gave up all our momentum from that point on and let them kick three easy goals.

I don't think we could have dominated or beaten sydney any more at their own game than we did today - and we still lost....

i literally don't get it. Against Geelong i kind of could, but against a faultering, aging Sydney? i cannot...

Sydney are a pretty tough team at the scg. Reiwoldt was caught fair and square. We were no better than them overall. Both teams had dominant patches and both teams missed goals.

We beat them to the ball don't know if we beat them at their own game though. One thing i noticed was that when they won the ball they would usually move it forward straight away and we got found out many times. When we won the ball we had to move backwards trying to find space, by then Sydney had numbers in our forward line.

Cotchin showed yesterday that he can find space moving forward. Hopefully he can help us in that aspect of our game.

In the end though the first quarter was what got us, we never seem to put in a good four quarter effort.

I posted somewhere last week that the SCG is The Bermuda Triangle of AFL grounds... short but wide.

You win in Sydney by going down the guts... 2 good kicks from centre-half-back will take you to the front of the goal square.

If you root around and go wide you play into Sydneys hands. With the ground being significantly shorter than others it obviously takes a lot less time for them to get back into defence and clog things up.

It is the last ground in the comp that you want to be trying to play possession football on.
