I won't get to see today's match for a few more days yet and was hoping someone could post their opinions about the games of Messrs. Browne and Austin.

I'm a big Steve Browne fan and am desperate to see him given an extended run in the seniors. Any chance on today's game? How did Austin cope today? I expect he was given more responsibility with Waite going down...how did he stand up? Any signs?

Don't mind a bit of negativity, but just the constructive stuff thanks :thumbsu:

Browne was really good. Got 25 disposals and was hard at it. One a lot of one on one duels and was one of the better players in Navy Blue.

Austin played on Dangerfield all-day. PLayed well in the 2nd and 3rd qauters but gave away to many shots on goals in the 1st and 4th and was lucky that Dfield didnt kick 4-5. Tackled well.

Both will be players :thumbsu:

Few turnovers but in a team like that today, I'd be amazed if there was someone that didn't turn the ball over.

Browne has so much composure for a youngster and was one of our only players that could be relatively pleased with their performance. Needs a bit of work on his disposal but he'll be a long term player.

Very impressed with Austin, too. Not sure why he was matched up on Dangerfield for a while so he was beaten a little but he shows signs of becoming a long term player.

Thanks guys.

Not unusual to see those words used to describe Browne... hard at it and composed. Can you tell me where he spent his time... down back or did he get a run on the ball?

Form permitting I'd love to see him keep his spot for the rest of the season. IMO he's part of the club's future and we've got to get AFL matches into him and get him familiar with the other boys' games. While I like Armfield, if push comes to shove, Browne gets my nod every time.

No arguments here.

Austin is solid, he has already passed thornton for a position in our defence. :thumbsu:

Browne lacks awareness. he got caught countless times today, but he seems like he has the ability to play at this level.

Austin is the nearest thing to SOS since SOS retired I recon. There is a lot to like about him. The way Adelaides forwards had it today its a wonder they didn't score 200 points, Our backs did good, Browne understands football is a rough game, he CAN play, is a smart player.
