ok carlton fans now that carlton has done most of it's trading apart from the NAB drafts still to come how do you all think our on feild set up will be looking for 2006???

Still not that good unfortunately. Some majors holes in defence and we dont have the mid field depth other clubs have. If fev and lance fire up forward with fisher, ohailpin and betts running alongside that is a dangerous set up. Thats a big if but. Youd like to think wed play hartlett, blackwell and jordan russel for a good deal of the year. Also it will be exctiting to see murphy and hopefully hurn getting a game.
Livingston needs to reach his potential and take full back. Thornton has to have a good year. Saddington needs to play well. Hopefully teague wont be as undersized therefore and hell have a better year. This should see players like morrel, mggrath struggling to get a game. Probably wont happen but lol

Teague Thornton Carrazzo
McGrath Whitnall Saddington
Simpson Bentick Murphy (#1)
Scotland Waite Walker
Betts Fevola Fisher
French Koutoufides Stevens
Inter: O'hAilpin Morrell Houlihan #4 or PSD #1.

B. Teague Thornton Carrazzo
HB. Saddington Livingston Lappin
C. Walker Koutoufides Simpson
HF. Waite Whitnall Scotland
F. Fisher Fevola Betts
FOLL.French Stevens Bentick
INTER. Murphy(1) Ryder(4) DeLuca Selwood(PSD 1)
EMERG. Russell O'hAilpin McGrath

Think we will keep Lappin. Wouldn't mind giving Livo first crack at CHB next year. I think he is too expendable at fullback. Would even toy with the idea of playing Fev at CHF & Lance out of the square.

NOTES

I have confidence that Livo can play fullback for us next year. He was good last year before his injury and well.... he's still young. I have faith in him.

Lappin will stay, and to honest, he'd be useful. Hopefully being contracted will prevent the same distractions he had in 2005.

Two more blues I have confidence in are Teague and Houlihan. They have the talent to play at this level and they won't give up the dream because of a couple of short-comings. Atleast you'd think not.....

The two new blues playing round 1? That's right. We have nothing to lose by rushing them in. Out of all the players in the draft, those two are best equiped to make an early impact. These guys are great leaders too. Just what the doctor ordered. :thumbsu:

Also, if we pick up Selwood, there's a spot for him in our starting 18.

B. Saddington Livingston Carrazzo
HB. Selwood Thornton Lappin
C. Simpson Bentick Scotland
HF. Waite Whitnall Houlihan
F. Fisher Fevola Betts
Foll. French Stevens Koutoufides
Int. DeLuca Walker Murphy O'hAilpin

Assuming Campo and Lappin go.

I'd like this!

Livo Thornton Carazzo
Walker (beefed up version) Saddington Whitnall (floating)
Simpson Murphy Scotland
Fisher Waite O'Hailpin (lappin if he stays)
Betts Fevola Houlihan
French Koutoufides Stevens
Inter: Bryan Bentick Selwood Russell

FB- Carazzo Thornton Sporn

HB- Saddington Norman Teague

C- Scotland Koutoufides Walker

HF- Whitnall Waite Houlihan

FF- Fisher Fevola Betts

R- Stevens Bentick French

Int- Simpson, McGrath, Lappin, Bryan

Emg- O'halphin, Murphy, Russel

Top 4 here we come

I think our team next year should be based entirely on preparing the next premiership team, not just squeezing a couple of wins. That means developing and playing players to win premierships. Breaking down our list:

Top-line Players likely to be around to be part of a premiership side:
Stevens, Fevola, Whitnall, Waite,

Experienced guys whose leadership will be beneficial, but who wont be around much longer:
Koutoufides, Lappin,

Young players with potential to develop:
Bentick, Betts, Blackwell, Fisher, Hartlett, Russell, Simpson, Sporn, Walker,

Role players who may stick around (can fill gaps for now):
Bryan, Chambers, Carrazzo, French, Scotland, Teague, Thornton, Saddington

Last chances (used up plenty of credits, time to deliver or go):
Davies, Deluca, Houlihan, Livingstone, McGrath, Norman, Prendergast, Raso, Wiggins,

Not worth playing:
Bannister, Camporeale, Johnson, Longmuir, Morrell,

Possible draftees (based on predicted drafts floating around): Murphy, Hurn, Austin Lucy,

From these - core should be first 3 groups, filled up with role players; last chances on bench. So my team is:

b: Teague, Thornton, Carazzo
hb: Lappin, Saddington, Sporn
c: Walker, Koutoufides, Russell
hf: Waite, Whitnall, Chambers
f: Betts, Fevola, Fisher
foll: French, Stevens, Scotland
Bench: Hartlett, Simpson, Bentick, Bryan
Later in year rotate in: Blackwell, Murphy, Hurn, Lucy,

How will that team fare? Defence is still a big weakness. Midfield is young and inexperienced, relying too much on Koutoufides and Stevens to hold it together - but will be ok providing those two don't get injured. Otherwise that team is far younger and quicker than we have served up in recent times, which should benefit our strong forward line. Bit of heart too. Should keep us off the bottom but not going to challenge for the 8 unfortunately

Can you tell me why Raso is in this list? The guy was drafted as a development player as was never meant to play this year. Probably won't even play seniors next year as well, he needs time to fill out. How the hell can he be on his last chance?

Pretty stupid comment from btdg. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it's a typo.

Think I got him confused with someone else. Mixed up former magpie, now Northern Bullants player Frank Raso with carlton rookie listed Anthony Raso?

Haven't seen much of him then, probably should be in the young guys with potential list

Nobody's seen much of him, unless you watch Haileybury footy. He's a bottom aged played picked up in last years draft late. He was given this year off to concentrate on his studies and he played school footy for most of the year. Luke Ball did the same thing during his first season with the saints.

Sorry Cypher but I think Scotland is easy in our best 22! Also Marc Murphy will also be a walk up start. Apart from that the rest seems about right!
