As was correctly pointed out you cannot be traded unless you agree.

Now, you may well be under contract & your coach tells you that "another club is interested in securing your services. Your two alternatives are to agree to be traded or remain here, but I can't guarantee you'll play too many senior games".

A few years ago Essendon offered up Heffernan to Brisbane for Cupido, including the "you won't get a game next year" line. Heffernan out-and-out refused to go so they traded Caracella instead. Heffernan then asked to be traded to Melbourne, after all, he had been told he wasn't going to get a game at Essendon.

that leaves carlton. they need a ruckman like oxygen, but if they manage to land judd, it might stretch their capacity to pay hudson, and lets not forget they will be aquiring kruezer.

I think there is some chance hudson would fall to us, and there is almost a 100% chance that mcgregor would fall to us if hudson was nabbed earlier. all three of those teams ahead of us in the PSD have decent key forwards.

And that's assuming no one else of more importance falls through to the PSD. Might be more names in the PSD that are attractive to the teams before us.

I'm not asking for a fire sale, just a trade that will bring a ready-made ruckman to the club.

A 28yo player who is not an A grader, A player who has already played his best football, a player with a knee injury, A player who wasn't mature enough to tow his previous club ethics and on top of that you want to pay well over the odds for him.

Not a good deal at all. As I said I'd rather stick with what we have. He is a reasonable enough player but we don't have to be forced into paying vastly more than what he is worth.

He averaged 13 disposals a game this year. If any midfielder returned those figures he'd be back to Werribee in a flash (by comparison, Wayde Skipper averaged 12.8).

Hudson is just a ruckman who is adept at scrambling after the contest (which is good) but don't make out that he's Dean Cox around the ground.

Seriously though - have you watched much of him? He's an average ruckman in most regards with one Exceptional trait. My point was that with your runners that trait would fit very very well.

weighing up the positives and negatives of it all, yes i would rather see hudson go to carlton or richmond for nothing rather than the bulldogs for a 3rd rounder.

1. it sends a message to the playing group that when a player tries to bite the hand that feeds them and demands a "certain trade or else" scenario, then they cant expect the club to go out of their way to meeting what they want - if they so desperately want to betray the club they can rot away at richmond.

i believe that is the stance the club will have over this and its either you give us your 2nd round pick or something equivelant or your not getting your established ruckmen you so desperately need.

Exactly. And that's really how you have to look at trading.

Except that surely the brains trust will have identified a priority list of who we want and the desired attributes that player can bring to the club. There is no point in identifying areas of weakness and then stuffing around resulting in getting nobody or less than what we want. I hope their philosophy is : we have to make it happen. Obviously players will be crossed off the list as they become unavailable or out of reach. I would expect we would trade fairly with a view to achieving a desired outcome. If Hudson has been prioritised as first choice, then we would be silly to play games with the PSD. And if he hasn't been prioritised, then it won't matter.

what Huddo and Mcgregor are worth can be debated for ever. However as a Crows fan who likes watching the current Bulldogs team play, you guys are going to need to trade aggressively to get these guys. Once you starting saying things like "they can do as well as Richards and Bryan" youre stuffed because they are/were shocking. Huddo and Kenny would be great pick ups for you club and I dont want to see them go. The thing that worries me is they play better than their reputation or the way they look (unfashionable but get the job done, say the opposite of mcDougall) Trade compensation less than performance I bet

A mediocre running half back like Jordan Mcmahon is of almost no interest, dime a dozen. If you go into 08 with the same ruck/KPP stocks you cant make the 8

I really hope your recruiting team is much smarter than some of your posters here. Huddo will not go PSD. There many many teams waiting in line for ruckman- Saints, Melbourne, Richmond and COllingwood would be interested in Huddo. He's not a spud. Why the hell would we want a 3rd/4th rounder for him? Whats the strike rate of getting a decent player with a 3rd/4th rounder? Insulting offer.

No way that we will get Hudson with our 3rd round pick. He ended up with the 2nd highest average and total contested possessions this year. That's an amazing effort for a ruckman, yet alone one coming off a knee injury.

Pick 21 is probably a fair trade when you consider draft depth and our need for a decent ruckman.

i'd take hudson if it was for somthing like a swap in 2nd and 3rd round picks, i can see this happen as the crows wont want to lose him for nothing, and he want to go to the dogs.
