Pick 1 would be a priority pick, Pick 2 for finishing last.

Great news if its true!!!!!! 4 picks in the top 20, that's unreal!!!!
We bloody need it, that's for sure....after all the pain we've had since 2002. Losing the top 2 draft picks in Goddard (StK) and Wells (Kang) is how it all started. Then being suspended from participating in the 2002 and 2003 drafts really held us back (thanks to the bloody AFL for that). Denis (Pagan) had no choice but to just totally turnover the list just through trades.

If this is true, we'll be laughing down at Princes Park!!!!

I'm assuming if we get Pick 2 then they'll take Pick 17 off us.

Personally, I'm skeptical. I don't want to get my hopes up so I won't even think about selecting Gibbs and Hanson with the first two picks and having filled two major holes in our side with a gun midfielder and a KPP defender. Ahh...the possibilities.

Screw 'em! They weren't complaining when their draft picks were "upgraded" in 2002. It won't kill them to have their draft picks downgraded by 1 this year.

Its not a rumour that were trying to get the priority selection to happen at the beginning of the draft,but Carlton being set to have pick 1,2,19 & 20 is, because if the changes were made we wouldnt end up with 2 picks around the 20 mark.Dont get me wrong I obviously would love to have as many picks as possible,I mean put aside their new method it sounds worse if you look at it as 2 wooden spoons in a row doesnt it.

I think everyone at Carlton would be overjoyed if that was the case, but I highly doubt it. The AFL has done this in the first place to kick us while we are down, why would they make themselves look bad by caving in to Smorgon? Unless they had some unholy deal that if Pagan was kept around that we would get the priority pick, I'd say it wouldn't have a hope in hell of being true.

Secondly, because of all the bull**** at the start of the year regarding Gibbs. The AFL certainly doesnt want to look bad ANYWHERE outside of Victoria, and when they vetoed Adelaide's bid for Gibbs under the f/s rule, they basically said they weren't going to change anything for this year at least. They certainly wont change that rule for a Victorian club, much less Carlton.

It would be extremely nice, but the chances are zilch from what I can see.

The AFL isnt going to listen to smorgan... only hope is if we take them to court and win on a technicality!

well im a little sceptical seeing that your a newbie, and often newbies create new accouts especially to stir up trouble.

But having said that, you seem fairly serious and i pray to god that you are correct.

If we get picks 1+2 id be happy with any of the following combinations.

Gibbs and Hansen
Gibbs and Gumbleton
Gibbs and Luenberger

Damn, I hope this is true - but I sure as hell aren't holding my breath. It's just a rumour, great if it is true but how many rumours have we heard which were just rumours (Goddard to Carlton) ?

We are set to have:

Picks 1,2,17,19,35 etc

Pick #2 comes from the Brendan Goddard debarcle of 2002 - where we were stripped of a PP which we "earned", even though the punishments and draft sanctions layed down to us did not include Priority Picks (which is why we were able to draft Andrew Walker in 2003 and no one else for the first 2 rounds).
