haha I was surrounded by Hawks too, front of level 4 in the MCC opposite pocked to the scoreboard. Needless to say, I wasn't very popular, & I was drinking :D

One fat fack 2 rows behind me had the misfortune of telling me to sit down shortly before we scored a great goal. Deary me he got a gobful as I very sarcastically asked him a few times whether I was allowed to stand up now. There was hate in his eyes, but he was chicken-shit. Then he ****ed off at 3/4 time! Obviously wanted to avoid the inevitable walk of shame

How good is it!!! I reckon you & me have been driving the Gumby bandwagon for the last 3 years, & it's great to see some results! :thumbsu:
You sir, are a class act.

*tips hat*

Anyone else see the speed of Hurley's hands in the 2nd qrt (I think)? It was just after they were talking about his knee/ankle, when he was pushing up on the wing. Put in a quick couple of steps under pressure received the ball and handed it off all within about a second. Set up a scoring shot. Looked amazing!

I noticed that too :thumbsu:. Can move pretty quickly if he has to. Couple of tricks up his sleeves that boy.

Gumby's pack mark.
Hurley's 60m left foot kick.
Gumby's banana goal.
Hurley's bump on Rioli.

Hurbleton should be eligibile for the Rising Star.

That left foot kick was massive. Went to the goal square from 65m. Was anyone thinking of the goal from nearly the exact same spot last year when he had it?

How good was that banana goal?? Gumby is getting better and better.

Serious manlove for these two.

Yeah ... as soon as he kicked I reminded the Hawks folk around me "Heh. Wrong foot!"
nice :D

had B+G Ball as people in The Hangar Crew will remember, but watched the reply this morning and they looked AWESOME! Hurbleton will be the next great FF-CHF combo. bookmark it

I  Emma Quayle.

In her write-up about the game, re Gumby:

As it turned out there were plenty of moments worth remembering last night. Scott Gumbleton's banana goal from a tight angle on the boundary line, minutes into the first quarter, was one. Where his missed running shot against Collingwood last week opened the floodgates (for the other team, unfortunately) this one got the Bombers off to a good start.

By the end of the night, Gumbleton had taken eight marks, and, perhaps most crucially, proven Hawthorn misguided in placing Luke Hodge, well beaten by Andrew Welsh as a midfielder in the first half, against him in the second.

If the plan was to use Hodge's run and neat left foot to more effect against a lumbering opponent, Gumbleton didn't think it was a very good one at all, slipping Hodge a few times to mark, and seeing him sent back to the middle. He's getting better and better and better.

Well written, intelligent commentary. More goodness throughout the article

Yeah! Was that black and white? Like Didak's? Bloody terrible look.

It was red and black but still looked strange, black with red fangs maybe?

I wonder if Hurley can ACTUALLY kick it further on his left than his right. I wouldn't classify my dad as being ambidextrous but **** he could torp it 60m+ on his non-preferred, which was further than his right. All in the technique apparently.

Never could get that skill off dad, but it gave him the shits that I could bat/bowl left handed almost as well as my right... but couldn't throw. lol :D

Is it just me, or does Hurls look like he's lost a bit of weight?

Maybe that wrist issue hasn't allowed him to hit the upper body weights as much as he/Essendon would've liked.

he's definitely lost weight afaic. I've thought it all year. Just doesn't have the bulk of last year, which is weird. The wrist is probably the reason.

God I can't wait to see what this monster looks like in 5 years!!
