Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first game this season that we've gone into as underdogs.

The best thing about last year was the games that we weren't supposed to win but that we won anyway - Port at AAMI, Brisbane & Bulldogs spring to mind.

We know that young sides will win some games that they're not supposed to and lose some games that they're not supposed to (09 - freo, bombers especially), so I'm just thinking that with the pressure of favouritism removed from our boys' shoulders this week, we might just sneak home.

COME ON YOU BLUEBAGGERS !!!

Don't know if it's a good or bad thing. We should be ahead of Birsbane by now by I guess homeground advantage is hard to judge.

The odds don't really mean that much to me to be honest. Might go put 50cents each way on the blues now they are at such JUICY dollars...

We are playing with the least ammount of "duds" all year this game although O'hAilpin shouldn't be ahead of Austin.

Normally think we see things in a similar vain, G, but not this time. Irish offers much more flexibility and his role at CHF will be to offer a genuine contest - will be tough to match up on. If needed he can swing into defence but IMO if that situation arises, we're 3/4 f#*$@ed anyway. Our pressure across the ground will be vital in restricting Brown and Bradshaw's impact, not just the work of Bower and Jamo.

I don't know. I'm not very optimistic about this game. I fear my curse will continue.

For those who can't remember a post I made before the Collingwood game, every game I have attended we have won and every game I have missed we have lost and I'm missing this one.

I'd love to be wrong.

Pretty simple solution, pansies. How could you not make the trip now that it means a certain 4 points to us?

If Thy has finished the refit, you are most welcome to use my private jet pansies :p

I tell you one thing - I feel a hell of lot better this week than last week.

Can't remember being so nervous for a Carlton game (other than finals).\ as O was before the West Coast game last week.

Defeat last week was unthinkable !!

Brisbane is a good place to stay, especially on Saturday nights, not bad heading to the Gabba either.

Just had a look at Centrebet.

Put $10 on for + 15.5 points = $38.50 return

Chuck another $10 on for +40 points = $88

Over 40 point win returns $125 + (Based on a $20 punt as above)
Scrape home with a 16 point win & you stil finish in front :thumbsu:

Lose, or win by less than 15, then you were an idiot listening to me:D

JR will. It will be his fault he wasn't picked...:D

That wouldn't surprise me.

Seriously.

I remember a post claiming a Judd clanger was only a clanger as JR didn't run to the right spot. And they were serious.

Any way - back on topic.

I actually think we may lose this game. We've been terrible away from home recently and the game a few weeks back v Brisbane was closer that the final score line suggests. Plus they've been pretty good recently.

Ill be tipping Brisbane in the work comp - on the positive side at least that's some consolation should we lose.

I actually feel quietly confident about Saturday night, and here is why....

1. Both teams have pretty strong midfields, and I wouldn't expect either Carlton or Brisbane to get any real advantage here.

2. Both teams also have pretty good froward lines, with dangerous talls at either end.

3. The backline, and I suspect this is where we will have an edge over the Lions, particularly if they can't find a matchup for Fevola, and may have to move Bradshaw back, like they did two weeks ago vs St.Kilda.

4. Brisbane have had 2 pretty tough games in Melbourne back-to-back, and wouldn't surprise me if they came out a little flat this week. Not that I think this will make much difference, but we also get an extra days break over them as well.

We'd have to play some good footy to get over the line, but at least there were some good signs last week vs West Coast.

But interesting if we lose with no JR in the side.

I mean - who's gonna take all the blame for the loss for the following week?

Any other bloke who plays like a ****ing ****** i suppose. :D

You asked. :p

I'm also quietly confident.

Hoping that 1st half against the Crows becomes our turning point in the season, and we starting winning game like this. I think the lads know the effort that's required and with a more experienced side I think we will come away with the points.

Quietly confident aswell. Hopefully we can actually string some form together for a change. We need to start well up there though, if we let them get on top early I can't see a Round 21-esque comeback like last year.

Also I hate to be a party pooper... but even though we aren't favourites with the betting agencies... the AFL site still tipped us:o.
