I just realized that cold chisel are more than just bogan rock and I don't need to be ashamed ...

Real music fans like myself buy albums still, casual listeners like you listen to FM radio and buy singles off iTunes. I don't need to see the receipts by the way, that's being stupid.

My last 5 albums:

Machine Head - Bloodstone and Diamonds
Slipknot - The Gray Chapter
Mastodon - Once More 'Round The Sun
Killer Be Killed - Killer Be Killed
Dream Theater - Dream Theater

I recommend you listen to some great music like the albums I have listed, it will enrich your life.
Real music fan...lol. You're so full of shit you don't even realise it. What was the last piece of classical music you appreciated?

I've heard a bit of Slipknot that I didn't mind. I'll tell you how shit the rest are when I've had a listen and a laugh.

I'm not the sort of person who identifies myself with one particular genre. I'm an eclectic listener who can appreciate all styles of music, except shitmetal of course. That's just a group of untalented people desperately trying not to appear mainstream.

Actually metal is the closest form of genre to classical music. So it's far more 'musical' than shit like 'Getting High On Your Own Supply - Apollo Four Forty' whatever the **** that is. :$

What a load of shit. If thrash or death is your choice in metal, you may as well go to the airport and listen to jumbos take off.

I'm listening to The Gray Chapter now. So much shit, same boring repetitive bass and drums in almost every song. XIX is bit different though, seems like they're going for a Californian soft rock feel.

The Metal Gear Rising Soundtrack is pretty good for the kind of game it is but I wanna be the boshy has the best trance tracks.

This one for example.

- megaman

- One of the boss soundtracks for Metal Gear Rising.

Trance? Is that what they're calling electropop these days?
Yeah, pretty much. :(. Wait till you play Boshy. This theme track will traumatise you till no end hahahah!

Killer be Killed now. Wings of Feather and Wax gave me hope, but then a whole heap of the same old boring shit followed. That's it for me, I'm not subjecting my ears to any more of this crap. Got any decent suggestions the_interloper?

Exactly right. And Reginald Perrin I'm going to see Yngwie Malmsteen in Feb, I'm guessing someone as ignorant as you won't know who he is. He's actually a metal guitarist with classical influences, probably more classical than metal actually. Ridiculously talented and writes great music (just slightly a better musician than Apollo 440 or whoever the **** that is).

If you want to know anything more about music let me know. :thumbsu:

Metal is an incredibly diverse genre, a lot of technical and musical ability required, particularly in death metal, I think a lot of it goes above your head.

The Gray Chapter seems a bit more similar to Stone Sour, the Slipknot front man's other band, Stone Sour may be more to your taste.

Bloodstone and Diamonds now. Holy shit, they'd probably do OK if they got a front man who could sing. Still mostly the same boring shit though.

What a great analytical dissertation that was, you certainly are a knowledgeable music fan!

It's actually quite a diverse and dynamic album, created by a supergroup of musicians from vastly different spectrums of the metal area, it's anything but boring for mine.

It's lucky he had the orchestra backing him to provide a little melody. Ridiculous is just about the right decription. If you've got an example of his great music, you should post that instead.

lol. Supergroups are formed by individual musicians who are famous in their own right, not some unknowns that depressed people listen to in a bedroom with the walls and ceiling painted black.

Well you're showing your ignorance of the metal genre. These names are well known to metal fans, Max Cavalera needs no introduction of course, Max Puciato is lead vocalist of experimental mathcore band Dillinger Escape Plan (perhaps they aren't even metal), Troy Sanders plays bass and handles vocals for prog kings Mastodon and Dave Elitch plays drums for proggish The Mars Volta.

You really should try and have more of an open mind about music, you might actually learn something.

Yoshiki Hayashi did an incredible version of Black Diamond for orchestra, and I'm quite partial to Handel or Vivaldi.

Yeah, famous doesn't cover people who are favoured by minority sections of the community. Perhaps splintergroup might be a better descriptor.

Lol, people who listen to all types of music usually have no idea and just say this to sound cool. What about naming the last 5 albums you have bought?
That is absolute bullshit. All types of music (that have stood the test of time) have talented and great artists which can be appreciated at the right time and place by true music lovers and artists.

Bach Passions
Kind of Blue
Led Zeppelin IV
No More Shall We Part
Ring of Fire

Five albums i listen to regularly from different genres which were first in my draw. I could give you 50.

Well perhaps you should give Malmsteen a listen, being such a classical afficionado I'm sure you'd appreciate his Paganini influences, and his efforts in combining them with such hard rock influences as Deep Purple (classically influenced in themselves). His solo debut Rising Force is probably the pick of his releases.

Well it's all relative I spose, if you're a metal fan like I said you'll certainly know all of the guys in the band (not necessarily Dave Elitch). The combination of their different influences makes this a most interesting project though, way more interesting than something like Chickenfoot or Velvet Revolver.

Harry Vanda and George Young were only honorary Aussies too.
Definitely the best song ever written by a collaboration of a dutch guy and a Scotsman. ( Only part 1 though ).

This is one of my favorites, maybe because it rings true. His autobiographical books are a ripper read too. ( sex thugs and rock and roll - shit I want to be a 1960's pop star )

Part 3 is just as good

A lot of metal is more classically based than a lock of rock which is often blues based. But how does that actually make it more musical?

I can appreciate metal but prefer blues/rock. Technique does not make music. Soul does.

Kind of Blue and Led Zeppelin 4 are good albums I'll give you that. But yeah you must have the most diverse music taste I've ever heard of, you probably have the ability to appreciate music better than anyone ever in the history of the world, you're ****ing amazing! :D

Not at all. I'm just grown up enough to not box myself in to a particular style or type of music which I feel defines me. That you mock others music tastes only means you are insecure in yourself and use music as a crutch. It's part of your persona. Like a bogan or a hipster you can't just be yourself just yet but need to belong to a group to feel valid. Learn to be more open and you'll get there. Good luck.
