You can cry all you like about our past draft blunders, but what matters most is who we're drafting now.

Since Dimma took over we have picked up the following players in the ND:

Martin
Griffiths
Astbury
Dea
Taylor
Webberley
Nason
Conca
Batchelor
Helbig
MacDonald
Derickx
Ellis
Elton
Arnot

Not a bad list at all. We've nailed our 1st to 3rd rounders in the last few years (not sure about the draft just gone yet), and picked some players who have shown they're capable. The only players not on the list any more are Nason (who served us pretty well for a 5th round pick) and Taylor (who had talent, just wasn't interested in playing).

Then you look at our PSD selections:

Grimes
Houli
McCarthy (probably if Port are taking Urquart)

Grimes was an absolute steal and Houli has been a kicking weapon.

So stop whining about past mistakes and be grateful that things are starting to come together now!

martin aside i think it way too early to pronounce we have nailed anything.
wont go into the psd.
i think we should learn from the past and actually have players prove themselves before announcing success.

My memory might be failing me with this comment, but I seem to recall that Buddy was touted as the number one pick mid year, and then he developed attitude problems. These resurfaced in 2007 or 2008, when Dean Polo tagged him at VFL level and beat him all day.

Micheal Long described Tambling as the best indigenous player he had ever seen (at that age). Big wraps going into the draft.

Bulldogs also overlooked Buddy.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I'm glad the Hawks returned the favor by selecting Mitch Thorpe ahead of Jack.
