...this sent shivers down my spine when I read it. Not sure why, just made me proud the team is on the way somewhere and is getting some recognition for it.

A bit of poetry from Peter Ker in The Age:

Sometimes a win feels like more than just four premiership points.

Sometimes the final siren feels like a beginning, rather than an ending.

The Geelong fans who made the journey to Telstra Dome last night will have gone home convinced they have witnessed the coming of age of their side, after Mark Thompson's men ran away with a 23-point win over Essendon.

And a bit of admiration on my part, from one professional journo to another.

Even better was what Mr. Ker wrote at the end of his post-match write-up, which wraps everything up into one nice, neat package...

As Cameron Mooney's post-siren torpedo wobbled into the crowd, it became clear that although the last 114 minutes of football was fiercely contested, spiteful and close enough for the Bombers to momentarily snatch the lead, ultimately it was Kingsley's early burst that separated the sides.

Rather than limp into the rooms exhausted, Steven King and Corey Enright traded mid-air heel-clicks as the Cats theme song rang out.

Clearly, this is a group of men who, like their fans, can't wait for next week.

Damn straight... can't wait til next weekend.

Great to see Bomber speaking with....well I'm not going to call it emotion, but it's getting there

"People had written us off at round two, told us we were going to win the wooden spoon and start throwing games so you can get priority draft picks,'' Thompson said.

"What a load of crap, it is just absolute rubbish."

"The spirit that these boys have shown is fantastic, to not give in, not concede, just get back and win games of footy.

"We played two bad games, we played off in the Wizard Cup for goodness sakes. What's happened here?

Seeing those words in print was one thing-- but to actually hear him say it, even in soundbyte form on "The Winners" on Fox Footy last night, that was even better.

Full impact felt, IMHO.

I wouldn't call it emotion, either-- but I'd be glad to settle for brutal honesty.
