I suppose Chappites will blame CS for this!

It is reported in the H-S that Essendon may not be able to fit both new signing Adam Cooney, and Paul Chapman into the salary cap, and that Chappy is put out that Cooney is getting more money than he is at Essendon. There is also a question whether this may force Chappy out of Essendon.

Now, there are some so-called Geelong supporters (and I use the term loosely) who defend Paul Chapman against the perceived "evil forces" that fail to see him as the god amongst men that they see him as. How do you defenders feel about your little bald mate not getting the five-star treatment he feels entitled to, and how will critics of Chris Scott on these boards (and there are many) twist this to somehow make it CS's fault again, and call for his sacking.

Also, should Chapman leave Essendon, should we pick him up in the pre-season draft, and he comes back to the Cats on their terms (he may have no choice, other than retirement)?

Why should we redraft Chapman when A)we let him walk in the first instance, and B) He has 1 year left at best? Besides that, Chapman isn't what we're lacking and holding us back for immediate success.

If he was a foot taller and had played ruck for his entire career, and won his NS in that position, then I'd say yes.

Say most of this quietly, as you may incur the wrath of Chappites who think that Chapman can play every position, and do all things.

So can Essendon still have him come off the list? I would have thought all delistings and changes pre Draft would have to have been done by now?

Interesting if true since I thought he had a 2 year deal already? Surely he is aware this would be his last year and isn't in a position to kick up about cash

I'm not usually one to get involved in the Chapman thing (until now), however...

Clearly Chapman has been over valuing himself for the last two years. He can't keep expecting A-Grade salary at his age.

No I would not support him coming back to Geelong - nor should he still have been here this year.

I thought there was a trigger for his second year and he had made it.
Cant be bothered going to find out to be honest. He doesn't play for us anymore.

It probably should just be in the non Geelong thread but I still find it interesting. Surely the trigger for the 2nd year would have the money sorted already?

I would have thought so. Played 20 games and came 9th in the B&F.
I can't imagine they are dropping his pay. I can only assume he is asking for more.?
