What idealistic things -- concepts, beliefs, thoughts, attitudes, goals, etc -- do you still hold onto strongly even tho it's against your best interests, even tho they're always still a source of dismay and non-fruition, even tho you know they're wrong or not realistic or even harmful to your inner peace??

For me, one of them, is holding into the "dream girl" based solely upon a certain look from eye shape and color, hair color, face, nose shape, body type. An exact specific thing that as soon as I see I'll kill myself for and do questionable things to try for.

Sounds fairly shallow

I dont know what you are doing
I was just returning some of the personal insights you have given me in the past
Always appreciate yours and others feedback, criticism, mockery, or love  Tho I'm also interested in reading others contribution about their idealistic things.

I cant perfectly describe or detail the specific look, but vivien leigh is similar

Beautiful women can almost get away with anything GG, with me anyway.

Nature/the environment is stunningly spectacular but nothing can beat the beauty and allure of an attractive young naked female body. It's survival of the species stuff, it's in the DNA, it's evolution GG

Devilishly heavenly. Can never indulge enough. Source of eternal torment.

I strongly believe that we should always be progressing, not only in materialistic 'living standards' but also in the broader measures of 'quality of life'.

Future generations should not be consigned to more stressful, more difficult lives with more toys thrown in. This goes to issues like housing affordability and jobs. For many decades, ordinary Australians could waltz into secure, quality jobs and pay off a house comfortably. If this opportunity is taken away, we have gone backwards. For this reason, the property bubble and the AI revolution are enormous threats to Australia's future.

I strongly agree on climate change action because future generations should not have to live on an inhospitable planet.

Each generation should have a better life - overall - than the previous one. Otherwise, what's the point of spending so much time, energy and taxes on building a civilised society?

sex is over rated.
Been there done that.
Im in a long term relationship , but if I never had sex again...meh....Id still keep my self occupied doing things it wouldnt worry me.
Probably on my own there.

I'm less worried about AI
we'd certainly be better off if a lot of our policy decisions over the last 50 years were based on data and logic

the issue will be as always who is controlling the AI and for what purpose

everyone is worried about losing their jobs but we are a capitalist society, we need people working for the rich to get richer, unfortunately we also need a certain portion of the population out of work for the system to function currently and we don't do much about helping those people

Politicians act like its always the fault of the individual that they are out of work but it isn't and we need to support everyone, we shouldn't have people living below the poverty line in this country, but we do

Life motto's-

1) Treat people the way you would like to be treated.
2) Walk in another persons shoes before judging them.
3) Look for the good in all people.

Has led a couple of times to me being taken advantage of, but they are good learning experiences.

This is a lot like me too

My thing is
To be humble
To be honest
And always help others.

I say I live by the 3 H's.

Yep, firmly in the opposite camp.

I've had kids even though the world looks like it's going to hell in a hand basket, so I reckon that makes me a true idealist/optimist.

Number 2 leads to a lot of campaigners calling me a weirdo when I return their shoes to them.

I am very much with the second one. I understand some people need religion for themselves to bring some meaning to their lives as they feel lost without that crutch and as long as they not assuming or expecting me or others to believe the same I am ok with them, even if we share very few interests.

The first one is a half truth though, "Treat people how you'd like to be treated" I find frustrating sometimes of other people. I'd rather people treat me how I would want to be treated. If I do not drink coffee just because you like coffee trying to treat me to same drink is not going to really do anything for me. I prefer to treat people how they would like to be treated. Sometimes that means listening to another person to actually learn how another likes to be treated.
