This is how it would look. Obviously its hard, with one team having 3 cars and some teams having one car. But I have dones the maths and come up with the 2003 V8 Supercar Constructors Championship (please note only the larger teams listed, and it is listed in the Championship order)
AFTER the completion of the NZ Round (Using the UN-adjusted points system)
Stone Brothers Racing - 3780 pts (Ambrose and Ingall)
K-Mart Racing - 3619 pts (Murphy and Rick Kelly)
Holden Racing Team - 3397 pts (Skaife and Todd Kelly)
Team Brock - 2998 pts (Bright and Weel)
Ford Performance Racing* - 2849 pts (Lowndes and Seton)
OzEmail Racing - 2404 pts (Bowe and Jones)
Team Betta Electrical - 2376 pts (Radisich and Canto)
Castrol Perkins Racing - 2359 pts (S.Richards and Dumbrell)
D. Johnson Racing - 2299 pts (Johnson and Wilson)
Garry Rogers Motorsport - 2181 pts (Tander and Whincup)
Orrcon Racing - 2100 pts (Bargwanna and Larkham)
Team Dynamik - 1842 pts (J.Richards and Wills)
SuperCheap Auto Racing** - 1491 (Ellery and Youlden)
*FPR have 3 cars, so I have taken their 2 highest scoring drivers as their total. If you include the 3rd car of David Besnard their tally becomes 3827 and they would be first.
**As SuperCheap Auto only have the one entry in the Championship, I have also included the points tally of Luke Youlden to make it a little fairer. Obviously this shows how having one car hinders your performance.
So there we have it, if there was a constructors title Stone Bros. Racing would all but have it sewn up by now with a 161 point lead over K-Mart Racing. I think that shows how much the championship has changed this year with HRT down in 3rd place.
Also, for the drivers championship, with the un-adjusted points score Ambrose leads Murphy by just 6 points. Obviously with the adjusted points score (who' stupid idea was it to drop your worst round
) Murph now trails by 24 points. Sure make it a lot interesting if it was only the 6 points. It also raises the point of...
WHAT IF Murphy manages to outscore Ambrose by 8 points at Eastern Creek and on UN-adjusted points is the winner by 2 points, but with the adjusted points tally Ambrose wins by 16 points. Now seriously, isnt that just a stupid sitaution. We would have the driver who scores the most points during the WHOLE season LOSE the Championship because of a stupid rule that was brought in. If this happened I am almost certain you would see this ludicrous rule scrapped for 2004.
