if or in my case when things go bad with this season and everyone is calling for CC's head like i have been, who will take the reigns next year? Now i know some of you will say don't start in such a negative way but i dislike CC 's coaching methods and have been very dissatisfied with our results. i have said that atleast from halfway through last season that he was not the coach for fremante. IF you were to make a choice for a new coach based on who is available or who might be an up and coming coach who would you select?

OPTION 1 throw bucketloads of money at PAGAN (only coach at this stage who hasnt't extended his contract and is out of contract at seasons end)
OPTION 2 its a tie between G.Hocking and P.Sumich for mine.

NOW FLAME AWAY!!!!

Hocking is not experienced enough yet, might become a good afl coach but he needs to come thru doing a assistant's role at a AFL club.
Sumich would be looked at , coached Souths to a premiership has done 3 or 4 years under Worsfold, seems to have done a good job with West Coasts midfield but has some good cattle to work with.
Gary O'donnell has done a apprentiship under Matthews for a few years ,is a premiership captain and is now back working under sheedy, he'd be my pick.

Connelly will get the rest of the season though, regardless of how things are going and he might turn it around yet.

Summas the midfield coach.

Tico after one pre-season game .......your a disgrace son and I'd like to wager a non-member.

couldn't be more wrong... i have been a member right from the start (quay club) and just expect more from my team than you. i am sick of losing and hearing all the bullshiiiit excuses from the so called coach. if he proves me wrong i will admit it...but how many times have you seen him publicly put his hand up and say its my fault , in certain cases the buck stops with me.NEVER

You are not alone mate. Tico, I share your views and also have been there right from the start. Freo people have loved their footy through both South & Easts and deserve better from thier AFL team. I am also sick and tired of losing and then hearing all the b***** excuses from the so called coach.

The cattle is there and it just needs a coach who can get the best out of them.

I would have like Wallace a couple of years ago, but Hocking may have the goods. Pagan and the likes will not come.

I would go for one of the Essendon chaps, Harvey or O'donnell.

Please don't steal our guys. Cheers. :)

or K Sheedy
things won't go bad, unless we get injuries.
I predict we will sneek into the top 8

You need a coach with respect.. a Sheedy... Parkin... Pagan, Wheeler sort. I maintain Freo's biggest mistake was going for an unrespected coach. The Eagles were always going to do well under Worsfold because he is one of the most respected players to ever pull on a Eagles jumper.. and commands respect. Connolly hams it up half the time like an ass clown... and nobody even knew who he was when he first came here. How can players respect that.

Worsfold hasn't proven anything Trolling Prick. I wouldn't consider finishing 8th 3 years in a row "doing well". You make it sound like wet toast have been top 4 while we have been bottom 4 in the 3 years the respective coaches have been at the helm. You finished 8th and we finished 9th. Last night you beat us by less than a kick. Not exactly a big difference between the 2 clubs in recent times. CCs record is 34 wins- 33 losses. Worsfolds winning % would be very similar. A poor start to 2005 would see him under pressure if there wasn't a love in between the worst case examples and the WA media (which I questioned you about in a previous thread but you failed to reply).

I see the Dockers supporters are already getting the tension levels up.... ease up boys.... its a long season.... and as much as it hurts you might just end up worse than last year :D Believe me nobody in the world wants to see Chris Connolly remain as coach as much as I do.

Are you worried a more seasoned coach would show Worsfold up for the hack that he is?
Worsfold in 3 years has managed to do 3 times more than what the Dockers have done in 10 years. Make the finals.

Besides I don't think a new coach would necessarily change much at Freo. Slow Midfield. No Ruck... A lunatic aboriginal forward pocket that has had 1 decent season in his whole career and wanted to quit football 6 months ago.... and another forward who has done nothing since his first season and sits there all game abusing teammates and is the most hated person in his team.,.. then you have another aboriginal from Brisbane probably on $500,000 a year.... that like Farmer has also only had 1 decent season in his 6 or so years in the competition.... and a 211cm lamppost that is about as effective to the Fremantle Dockers as Andre the Giant would be if he was dug up and exhumed and placed in the forward line.

Yup.... Freo are quite a bunch.

Why does the fact that Farmer and Headland are indigenous Australians have any relevence? Medhurst kicked 50 goals in 2003, a handy return for a second year player but his form was patchy last year. If the players hate him so much maybe they should push him down some stairs?

I think your too busy fantasising about a liaison with Daniel Kerr to post anything that would resemble a knowledgeable footy debate Total Perve.

if we ever went for harvey after getting CC before him last time around we would be the most inept team in the comp (by that i mean the board and ceo)
and sumich wouldn't be classed as stealing as he has already coached for freo before he went to the eagles and he is a south freo boy anyway

Well not really. Minibus Connolly was a more obvious candidate last time because he had been a 2IC at the Dawks for a fair time while Harvey was only just starting out as an assistant coach. Also I seem to remember he pulled out of the race because it was clear that Cameron was going to hire his best mate. You don't stay in a job race if you know the winner is pre-determined.

waht you are saying may be right but it still looks very bad , a ceo picking his mate in front of others who have/had credentials at the time potentially gets sacked then pick up the same guy who wasn't offered the job 4 years before. umm no!

Harvey is a joke. He hasn't got the balls to be a senior coach. Hadn't really stepped up to the plate or been over looked for every senior position available since CC has been at the helm.

Harveys not the answer.

btw- its the Wizard Cup.

Gary Hocking.
Being a friend of one of Buddhas coaching staff at Peel I've heard a hell of alot about him. The board at Peel have nothing but admiration for the guy as he is the consumate professional that lives and breathes football. He has earned a tonne of respect from his players and the community in Mandurah have got right behind him like no other previous coach.
Buddha has spoken to the Fremantle Football Club. The board at Freo hold him in very high regard. At the same time, there have been murmurs that our board are not totally happy with Connollys methods.
Hockings contract is over at the end of the following season and he will most probably be snapped up by another club, but he supposedly is a little further advanced than most guys who would put their hands up for an assistant coach job. Not a good idea getting someone of his apparent calibre if you were a Laidley/Ayes/Roos/Clarkson or Connolly as you would be looking over your shoulder constantly. Plus, he loves the lifestyle over here and would jump at the chance to coach either of the two AFL sides in WA.

surfsup - I have heard similar stories.
As a footballer he was respected. I believe he would make a great Freo coach.

Sorry I meant Craig not Ayes.

If a team in search of a new head coach doesn't pick him up then I think the only assistant coaching position Buddha will be grabbed for will be under someone like a Sheedy or a Matthews.
