10. Resistance 2
9. MGS4
8. Braid
7. LBP
6. Fable 2
5. Mirrors Edge
4. Dead Space
3. L4D
2. Fallout 3
1. GTA IV

LOL, this oughta kick of some flammage :p

Whilst I love Mirrors Edge, 5th best game of 2008...hmmm, no Gears 2?? No COD:WaW?? No FarCry 2??

Gears 2 scores 9.5 from IGN AU, ME scores 8.5

Anyway, this should be fun :D

lmao, you're right......major flamebait

MGS4 at number 9? that'll piss off the sony fanboys

resistance 2 in the list but no GOW2? that'll piss off the xbox fanboys

GTA4 at number 1? that is a universal pisser offer because of all the controversy with reviews.

(btw I think that GTA4 is a great game with perhaps the best videogame story ever conceived......but in terms of gameplay its 50% of awesomeness before it slides to meh, so I don't think it should be number 1)

I was recently reading some old articles from The Inquirer about how the cell processor was broken and the RSX was half as powerful as the Xenos......and thinking to myself "Wow, they must have receive some major clickage and therefore some major advertising dollars with this one"

I think the ign article is trying to do the same thing.

Kk, do you know how much it is?

not sure if it's on PSN - it's about 1200 MS points on XBLA

Fallout 3 is number one by a mile.

Resistance 2 is a joke.

Ah, I forgot Fallout 3 as well

I think IGN Au is pretty bad, this just demostrates that

Most people I've spoken to have basically felt that GTA wasn good for a while but boring after a certain point

I haven't finished GTAIV, but I've quite enjoyed it thus far. I've never been a big fan of the GTA series, in fact, I've never liked a previous GTA, but 4 wasn't too bad.

IMO though, not a # 1

I'd have Gears 2 or Dead Space as # 1 personally

Braid is an XBLA exclusive game, cute platformer with time travel-type gameplay.

LBP should have been a PSN game.

Yeah I thought it was XBLA exclusive, there was another one I was thinking of that's on both, but yeah, you're right, Braid is 360 exclusive

No way that GTA IV should be first.

Agreed, not even close.

I got about half way through it, then got sick of it and stopped playing. Thats not what a no 1 game would do.

I reckon I might get back into it this summer though, once ive finished with LBP and R2. Its got nothing on GTA San Andreas though IMO.

Has anyone actually finished it?

Finished it in 30.5 hours :(

Will start it again when the DLC comes out, and am looking forward to it.

Fallout 3 is miles ahead imo. Saints Row 2 had more going on than GTA IV did, most overrated game ever!

MGS4 deserves to be much higher, even though there should have been more gameplay and less cutscenes.

I'm glad L4D and Dead Space made the top 5 as they are both very unique games and took most of us by suprise.

glad they gave Prince of Persia mention at the end there, despite AU giving it the worst score of the 3 igns.

Prince came this close to making our list this year. It's rock-solid adventuring from the get-go and shockingly pretty at times. Ubisoft Montreal has breathed new life into a stagnant franchise and we can't wait to see what they do with the inevitable sequel.

The fact that you can't actually die in PoP may have turned many people off.

What's the deal with that? Is it like Prey?

There seems to be a lot of games doing that these days

Prey, I haven't died yet in FC2 (keep getting rescued by a buddy), BF:BC would just start you from the last checkpoint with all the enemies still dead.

Your side-kick keeps saving your arse when you fall, but I suppose you could get killed by an enemy if you're really really shit. I'd rate it the least threatening game of '08.
What? Well that just ruins the fun. I guess it would be annoying if it was like Mirrors Edge and you sucked, so you just kept falling off the edge.

I don't see how it sucks that much, it takes out part of the tedium in the trial and error parts of the game. Nowadays with many FPS games having the ability to save anywhere, dying isn't that much of a deterrence. I haven't played it, but that doesn't seem like that huge a deal to me.
