I think its time to make a call on Impey. This is his 4th year on our list, and I have seen enough to think that he cannot cut it at the top level, and to persist with him in our team is a kick in the guts to any of the players at the Maggies who are deserving of a spot in the A's.
I know he offers us pace, but he needs to be doing more than applying forward 50 pressure.
How many of you guys also think, a guy in his 4th year, should be showing more than he is?
For a reasonably high draft pick (I am thinking 21, but more than likely I am wrong), I think he has hit his ceiling and its probably time he was dropped, and not recalled until he can play 4 or 5 great games at the Maggies. However I am of the opinion that he is not capable of taking his game to the level required, for him to be picked based on merit every week.
I am not calling for him to be delisted, but I would not be adverse to us trading him.
I personally can only recall him playing 3 great games in the 3 and a half years he has been with us.
Below is a list of the following criticisms I have of him:
-Disposal is terrible.
-Goal kicking extremely suspect.
-Decision making is awful.
-Impact on games is minor.
-His tackling is clumsy.
-He also lacks the 2 way running needed, for the modern game.

I think its time for Ken to act, and send a message to Impey that its time to step up or step on down to the Maggies and earn your spot.
This post was going to be made last week after the Essendon game, where after watching closely, I noted in 3 or 4 of the first 5 goals Essendon kicked, in the lead up play to them, Impey was either involved in a poor tackle, lack of running or poor skill execution that handed the ball back to the Bombers. Watch the first quarter closely if you disagree.
But after watching todays game, I just thought enough is enough, and its clearly time something is done at selection.

It's not even remotely time to make a call on such a raw high upside player when we're currently playing - and lead by - obvious no hopers on a weekly basis.

Ken has absolutely no ****ing right to be sending a message to anyone.

Impey is a talented player with a ton of upside who's currently out of form. We have plenty of out and out duds with no upside to worry about getting rid of before we worry about making a call on him.

If Polec is out injured and Amon's knee still crook, we will play Impey on the wing at the G next week.

I think Impey is one of those players that when the team plays well he really plays well and when we play poor he really plays poor.

I'm on the positives as I see upside to him with more development to come.

Get a stronger structure with a better smoother game play and I think we will see what he really has to offer.

No way would I play him on the wing, doesn't have the composure or the smarts to do it

It's Wingard or Hartlett that should move to Polec's position.

Ken has already put him and Boak in the frame. We need someone with his pace on the wing. No Polec and Hoff basically playing wing. If he can cut out his clanger, which is a bloody big if, his pace will be useful at the G.

If Ken had a clue he'd be playing 2s but in saying that I'd still drop Neade, S. Gary and Hartlett over him

Well hope you guys are right, but cant see it happening. This is only my opinion, which is certainly open to be debated, but after watching footy for 38 years, I believe quality players have a way of separating themselves from the pack, and as yet Impey hasn't done that.

Agree with quite a few of the opinions on here to drop other underperformers, eg Hartlett, possibly Boak, and Sam Gray for his frustrating disposal. But this is not a thread on them, it a thread about Impey.

Where's your Aaron Young thread? Where's your Sam Gray thread? Where's your Hamish Hartlett thread? Where's your Ken Hinkley thread?

He's the modern day gamble on a player who's 80% athlete, 20% footballer.

We are already slow enough as it is. I don't see what dropping Jarman achieves at this stage, he is what he is - an athlete - who will likely never have great disposal or incredible footy smarts.

Been a big 6 months going through the family stuff and then getting himself into trouble with the law. But I agree he needs a month in the Magpies. Terribly out of form and not deserving of an AFL game. Don't agree with gifting games just because he's young. Plenty of blokes in the Magpies deserving more at the moment.

As I said, I wouldn't be delisting him, I just think he needs a spell at the Maggies and to string some good games together before a recall. Correct me if I am wrong but, if its pace we are after, why wouldn't Johnson be brought in as a swap for Impey. Lets face it his impact on the game couldnt be any worse.
