Looks like he will be a Hard Nut with Speed. Kind of Like Judd

Best of all he can actually has a Good Kick on him, Love his couple of his 30 Meter Passes on to fowards Chest

Hine did it again Trading our 1st Round Pick for Wood

and Grabbing this guy at 31 with our 1st Pick because of a Injury Filled year in the u-18's.

I think he looks promising. He has a lot of good qualities.

He doesn't play anything like Judd to my eyes though. He is more like Hodge in his style. It will be interesting to see how he develops.

Anyway, in all seriousness, I've been super-impressed with the glimpses McCarthy has shown in his three games thus far. He's quickish, hard at it, and a good kick. With another preseason and more kms in his legs and kgs on his frame, he's an exciting prospect. Let's hope he develops into one of the clearance mids we need.

Appears to be a very good get by Hine. If he's as good as I think he is, it'll be a massive bargain taking him with a late second-rounder.

Any player that plays for free obviously loves the jumper. It all seems to be about money these days, so this is quite refreshing. He's alright in my book.

Personally I've been impressed WITH McCarthy but with you on him & Dave in him he's probably going to start feeling a bit uncomfortable, hope it doesn't effect his performance too much....

Looking forward to seeing him in action next year with his first injury free pre-season under his belt.

Learning how to find the footy regularly and fitness looks to be his only hurdles from being very good.

Loved his hit up early in the first quarter. Cant remember wh ohe kicked it o but it was perfect. Once he starts to find it more he will be special

I also can't remember who he hit in the first quarter, but that ball went like a rocket. I have not seen a pass that good from a Collingwood player for ages. I think the kick went to JA.
I was wondering who kicked it and I found out, I was sold on the kid.
I never realized he was such a good kick because it never showed up in some of the VFL games I have seen.
This kid will be a gun player.
I will pull my neck out and say he'll be at least a 200 gamer.
He is only 18 and has lots of improvement in him.
Wait until he has 2-3 pre seasons behind him.
I read somewhere that lots of the so called experts rated the kid highly and think that where Collingwood got him as a steal.

J-Mac looks like a real good get, it takes a pretty good 1st year player to step into a side as undermanned as we have been and still have an impact.

His willingness to do all the hard stuff, and skill when his got it are both really good. Judd is a terrible comparison. J-Mac doesn't appear to have that burst of speed to break through the congestion and break the lines.

As he builds a tank and more AFL ready body we do appear to have a really impressive mid capable of winning his own footy and using it well which is what many of us have been asking for.

I've been seriously impressed by McCarthy, particularly in this most recent match against the Swans. He has the right attributes, but there were times last week when he was running around like somewhat of a headless chook, and missed a few shots on goal. Much more measured performance on Saturday night.

really though i have been impressed regarding mccarthy. lets see how he goes in finals though yeh. cant wait. you know what malthouse says, the only time he really judges players is in big games such as finals. thats why he holds kids like thomas, pendles, goldsack, cloke in such high regards - they've shown they can perform on the big stage. i hope dawes and mccarthy get selected for finals
