Well, I certainly was.

May have been a suprise selection to come in to the side this week, but he was pretty good around the ground. I think Fanning looks like a player that only has height and doesn't have the skills (which may be ture) but he does find the ball his own way, and I think that may have a bit of B-Ball involved. :D

If he can develop into a tap out ruckman (need a new ruck coach, is Steve McKee being used, if he is, lol) he will be a very handy player. Let's see what he can do from here on in, because I think this stage is where he will make or break his career. He performed well, but needed more in the actual ruck.

Cmon Fanny - Flaps - Fred - Whatever they call you down there.

I want to see you play another couple games and keep your spot mate. :)

I had a good look at him the other day. He's hilarious. He runs around the field like that big dumb dog in that cartoon ... as if to say "Which way did they go? Which way did they go?"

He consistently mis-times his jump in the ruck ... and when he eventually flukes a tap-out it goes to the opposition.

Yeah. He's great. He fits right in to this current Collingwood side. I'd say the Copeland is a cakewalk.

Maybe the fact it was his second game may have been a factor ******** for brains

Looks like McKee is definitely his coach then!!!

Seriously though, he's a second gamer, and he's not even on the main list. Nobody looks worse in their early development than skinny ruckmen, because they are tall slow and clumsy and easily pushed aside by monsters with 150 games experience.

He needs two years in the VFL before he can be judged properly. But his skills and athletisicm are good, and attitude seems to be spot on. Not much more you can ask for at this early stage.

I rate, and sometimes overrate, every very young player on our list.
However I've never been that impressed with Fanning. He is a fair way down the pecking order, he has shown no flexibility in that he can only play ruck, his around the ground work when he has the ball is good but when he hasn't got the ball it is awful and needs to improve dramatically in this area. Where you run when you dont' have the ball as a ruckman is more important than what you do with it. Knobel is a dud around the ground but he was able to get away in get in dangerous positions all around the ground.
Being a rookie doesn't help his chances either. I don't think we should find space in our list for him. I'd rather draft a player who will take less time to develop.
