A thread to discuss some of the young blokes who are doing well across the league.

A lesser light to start off with. I am impressed with a young bloke called Matt White from Richmond. He is super-quick, looks to run hard and is happy to take the opposition on. I don't think he lacks courage and, while his disposal is occasionally iffy, the basics are there. Still at the beginning of his career but looks likely to have a long life in senior footy.

Couldn't agree with you more about White! His speed is impressive and his confidence to take the game on creates opportunities for his team.

Gavin Urqhuart from North really impresses me, he seems to have good speed and the ability to use the ball extremely effectively by hand and foot on both sides of his body.

Cotchin-I know this is an obvious one, but this bloke has Bronwlow medalist written all over him, already he is showing himself to be a trememdously skilled and attacking footballer. His shimmy is Harvey esque!

They've done well and that is on the basis that they've had a couple of mis-fires with higher draft picks in Meyer and Oakley-Nicholls (at least, so far). Another Tiger that impresses me is Pattison. He's ungainly looking but he gets around the ground, can take a reasonable grab and has plenty of heart. He was fast-tracked and I reckon he's benefitting this year.

On Urquhart, I am impressed as well. I was never an enormous fan of his in his draft year but I've changed my mind based on this season's performances. He looks like he might be able to stack on a bit more muscle which will help him move on ball more. A really likely type and possibly the pick of the Qlders from that super-draft, at this stage.

I know he was a high draft pick BUT

Cyril Rioli was fantastic last night against Geelong and he has been amazing all season. Last night he really showed off he is over head marking ability. Rioli has it all-skill,pace,courage,he knows how to crumb, mark and kick goals. I love seeing how some players step up against the best of the best, Rioli for mine was a big winner last night.

J.Selwood- I still count him as young because he is in his second year, i am sure his older brothers were busting their gut to get drafted so that they could get away from being beaten in the backyard by Joel! This fellow was born to play football, he is so compact, so hard at it and plays the percentages beautifully, it is very rare for a young player to set the standard for a team.

It’s amazing how bad the Tigers looked last year. None of their kids looked like going anywhere except for axel towards the end of the year. Now with a few more games under their belts they look to have good young players everywhere.

I must be in the minority here, but I thought Richmond showed alot of promise in a few games last year... I remember watching their win over Collingwood and thinking they aren't far off being a decent side.

No prizes there acu. He's looked the goods since day 1.

Yeah he wasn't hiding under a rock, was he? Just such a smooth mover, can go both sides and has that beautiful low centre of gravity. What a young gun!

I also like Armfield he has played a bit of footy for Carlton, skilled with good pace and courage. Anyone else noticed him at all?
