Thought it was an interesting interview. It's pretty obvious that Steven's didn't get on with Pagan from what he said. The whole environment under Denis, was a lot more toxic than I thought. I guess everyone did the right thing at the time i.e. by keeping these issues away from the media. It's just so great having these issues sorted now, and everyone at the Club on the same page, and moving forward. It's amazing to reflect on the positive changes that have been made at Carlton over the past 12 months. :)

I loved this bit. Of course it means nothing if the players can't execute.

"Ratts is big on using the ball well - making sure you win it, then hang on to it rather than turning it over for the sake of kicking it long. More creative handball and more run. We need to run more as a side."

Yep. From what we saw late last season, there's a lot more possession, especially in the backline. I guess it's a balance. On the one hand the direct, all out attack approach last year was flawed, but on the other hand I'd hate it if we resorted to the Swans/Crows/Hawks ultra-flooding, high-possession tempo rubbish. From the comments I've heard from Ratten, he doesn't want to go down that path. He wants a higher possession gameplan, but also a fast attacking style as well. It's a matter of still moving the ball on fast, but being a lot more clever and strategic about our entry into the forward 50. There's been a lot of comments about our poor use of the ball over the past few years, but I think a lot of that was because of our gameplan. Once you implement a more precise, higher possession gameplan, the players will use these skills more and get better at them. :)
