If anyone was watching the Carlton Vs. Western Bulldogs game closely you would have noticed something.

Ryan Houlihan is lining up for goal from the fence, kicks the goal, well and trule. A Doggies player is frustrated behind the goals and kicks the ball out of mid-air into the crowd.....

I personally don't see what is any different between this and Luke Mcguanes punching of the ball into the crowd against Geelong..

I know people want to keep the umpiring traditional and keep the game moving as quickly as possible...

But these constant umpire posts all over the boards, the constant articles about clubs being unhappy with umpiring, the news articles etc... It is time to introduce some type of video umpiring. Saying this I cannot think of the best system to use in AFL if we were to go to video umpiring, but clearly there is just too much human error from ground level and people are not going to stop complaining.

Maybe even just bring in an umpire that can overrule a ground umpires call if it is a game changing error that they have made, but apart from these situations the video umpire stays quiet?

I myself enjoy the traditional umpiring techniques but until the game is changed to make critical umpiring errors non existent, umpiring criticism will continue to grow and games will continue to be "won" by umpires... which is the worst type of win/loss

The difference is, the Umpires now know what the public reaction is to that rule, and probably won't pay it again:mad:
