I think part of Briztoon's post was talking about the fact that we might not have enough quantity of quality youngsters. Our youngsters look top end in Berry, McCluggage, Rayner (he is a pick 1 so it is more likely he will end up really good than not), Witherden, Andrews, Hippy. But sometimes l wonder if we have enough depth around these 18-21 year olds that will be A+----B graders. As we are getting higher up on the ladder, we wont have access to top end picks, so iyt is less likely that we will get these quality young guys.

The original plan was to go to the draft for 3 years, but we only did it for 2 yeears. If you look at Carlton, they have a significant amount of top end midfielders (whether they develop is another issue entirely). Same as Briz, l am hoping Bailey, Starc and Cox can all get there
Exactly.

I’m not sold on Starcevich yet. He’s shown some genuine class. He just doesn’t get enough of the ball. And I’m not sure he has the aggression to his game you see with Bailey and young Berry.

It's good to have a favourite who is fringe. I have Eagles and Cutler.

Cox has the tools to be elite and there's every chance of him succeeding. He's had a setback year due to personal issues but as we saw in his first game back, he's bloody talented and if he has a good pre season don't be shocked to see him as a best 22 player in 2020.

Not sure how you can say he doesn't have the aggression. If anything I'd say his aggression and force when hitting contests is something that could wind up injuring him. We saw against Melbourne for instance that he went when it was his turn and also showed his elite pace.

His biggest weakness is not getting enough of the ball, but that's where him playing as a defender utilises his weapons - he doesn't have to track from contest to contest and instead has a task to focus on in one part of the ground. He will come good, of that I am sure.

Agreed - I saw Starcevich take an unbelievably courageous mark in the trial game versus the Suns at the beginning of the year...he has what it takes!

Is that the one that Matho completely shanked from the middle of the ground and it ended up out in the wing?

With no Hodge, this week we're back to something a bit more typical for this thread 🤣

The four 200+ port players (Boak,Ebert,R.Gray,Westhoff) = 974 games experience to our 0 in this area. But overall it's only 594 games experience which is still a bit to overcome. Lets hope we have some mature heads on young bodies.

Noticed Port has the standard 22 players we have 23. Just a typo i assume.
Thanks again for these figures each week Jivlain.

Answerth is in both the 0-10 and 0-24 categories (which is why the 0-10 is in brackets because it's always double-counted)

Geez how even are those stats. They get a bit more of the ball generally (uncontested) while we shade them in clearances. We will need to work hard to stop their chain of possessions moving into forward 50.

Very interested to see the breakdown this week - with the changes the suns made (lost around 150 games experience all up), this should be well lopsided in our favour.
