I expect Clarke, Bode, Burns and Carey to come straight back in. Stevens will be given a run in SANFL because he has missed a LOT of footy.

OUT: Hentschel, Shirley, Gallagher and Doughty.

I wouldn't mind giving Hentschel another go against Blues but this time as a rebounding defender.;)

I really don't think Gallagher and Doughty should be dropped. Having said that, I don't know who can be to make way for those coming in. :( But, I guess if we had to pick, Doughty may be more useful than Gags.

Carey has missed a lot of footy too, so I don't see why he should be a walk up start, especially considering our forward line functions better without him, in my opinion.

IN: Stevens, Bode, Burns, Clarke
OUT: Hentschel, Shirley, ????

The other thing is, we probably don't need 3 crumbers - Ladhams, Burns, Bode. Out of those, I think Ladhams seems to be out of favour with Ayres, so he could probably go, even though I think he is the most important of the 3. :(

You can never have too many crumbers. Burns is a goal sneak who can make something out of nothing. With Goodwin out Bode will play on ball and Ladhams is more versatile than either Gags or Doughty. Ladhams is a skillful crumber who can also play in the midfield. I thought Ladhams was OK today. ;)

Stevens hasn't played since round 5 so bringing him in to play CHF straight away would be stupid move by the match committee IMHO. Carey is a different sort of player and has been out for less than Stevens. ;)

You probably have a good point about giving Stevo a run in the Eagles, as there is no need to rush him back in with Perrie's form & the return of Carey (& with Welsh & Burton also back in the team). I don't believe Hentschel deserves another game at this stage in front of some of the other players who are likely to be dropped.

I reckon Ladhams is a bit of the boil at the moment. We don't need his versatility with Burton, Roo, Bodey, etc all very versatile. IMO, both Doughty & Gags deserve to keep their spots ahead of Ladhams on form.

He probably doesn't deserve a go but we really need to blood him because if down the track we get these sort of injuries to our forward line, we will need him. He didn't do TOO bad today. I just think Carlton game would be a good game to give him a run in as they are not blessed with talls especially in their defence.;)

Hentschel was passable today, but I reckon he needs more time in the SANFL. I reckon our forward line of Perrie, Carey, Welsh, Burton, Burns, etc should stretch the Blues defence without Hentschel. ;)

I didn't think Hentschel was at all impressive today. He didn't get a kick early and as I recall had to move right up the the centre to get some cheap disposals.

He took some marks but all were dolly chest marks in space with no opponent. He think he missed two goals - one dead set straight forward late in the game with the match already won. There was absolutely no pressure and he still missed.

In both the games he has played he appeared to lack confidence.

I just don't feel he's quite ready for AFL football yet.

He was played as a half forward flanker for most of the game. At the centre bounces both him and Ladhams were instructed to start at the respective corners of the centre square. After he missed that sitter he was moved to defence on Robertson.;)

I must agree. He looked like an auskick kid on his first outing at AAMI Stadium.

I think given time he may come of age and produce something.

I think you have it pretty right with the Ins and Outs young Stiffmeister. Doughty wasn't given a lot of game time today (but I do rate him) and Gallagher hasn't done much wrong for weeks, so they will be stiff - but someone has to go.

Somehow they've got to get inside Hentschel's head and get him to stop being apologetic for being out there and he will really turn it on.

But not against the Blues, Stiffy. I'd save his chances this season for home games only, until he gets that self belief at this level.

Fair enough macca23.

On a different note. What did you think of Mark Jamar today?????? I thought he battled really hard and there is a lot to like about this kid. He has got a big heart. A definite goer as far as trading targets are concerned. He is already better than Marsh but that can't be that hard.:(

He's a big lump of a lad, and he has a real go - that puts him 300 miles ahead of Marsh already. Lacks a bit of the footy smarts and isn't very agile, but he is raw and young. Certainly worth a go.

:D I like that one, very apt description, though I have seen some tiny Auskick kids with some real poise and class, so let's not denigrate them too much ;)

I think Stiffy had the ins and outs called correctly, Trent and Rob the definite outs and Gags and Doughty the unlucky ones. As for Ladhams, I though he was pretty good today, seemed to work a bit harder and at least a definite improvement on what he produced prior to his demotion.

SCG, Morgan and now Hentschel.
Is there a trend?

I hope not!!!!!!:(

Whats this no poise business. There were 2 mistakes he made yesterday. 1. he missed a sitter and 2. he played on and then changed his mark when he took that mark on half forward flank in the 4th quarter.

No poise under pressure?????? Have any of you seen that peice of work in the centre square during 2nd quarter, when he was surrounded by 3-4 Melbourne players and he found his way out and hit Johncock right on the chest with his kick. He also showed some poise when he was moved to defence.

I still think he is a star in the making. It will just take him a bit longer to develop.;)

The thing is Stiffy, you believe it and I believe it, even if many others don't.

The day Hentschel believes it himself is the day that he will show the footy world what he is capable of.

Well Clarke, Stevens, Carey, Burns & Bode all look set to return after the break. Who will be the ublucky 5 players to make way?
You are forgetting Brent Reilly ( even Gary did on the news tonite), although he will come through Sturt before the crows.
Will there be a spot for him if he's playing well enough for Sturt to warrant a recall?

He is very much a confidence player and I keep saying if he kicked that goal he would have let it rip:D .

I think Ayersy and match commitee need to take him aside and tell him to just go for it. Not to worry if he makes mistakes or to listen to all the expectations. Just be himself and go out there and give it his best crack and not to think too much as to what he has to do once he gets it. All this comes with a bit of experience. Look at Tarrant this year. Everyone always knew he had it in him but he was very inconsistent but once he figured out a few things he is having a career best season.

Similar with Perrie, he is only really producing this year, his 5th in the AFL. We really need to be patient with Trent and play him as a flanker for a couple of years. Let him mature and then once he learns a bit more about the game throw him to FF.

I have every confidence that he will be a future star if he can stay injury free. Mattner and Bock on the other hand are really testing my patience.:(

The Crows do want him but the question is does he want to stay with the Crows. If he decides to go he will be highly regarded and we could do a really good deal. I wouldn' mind something along the lines of:

Reilly and our 1st round pick to Bulldogs
Faulkner and say pick 5-6 to us.

Hopefully there would be a Pavlich like player available for that pick 5-6.:D

dont scare me with your deals!!!!! :(

i think he may have settled hear in Adelaide now, and he's a little older and more mature than what he was when he moved over here.
I hope he wants to stay because he will be good for us in a couple of years

That was the one he missed from 15m straight in front? Geez, convert that and he might have gone nuts eh? :p

I wasn't expecting him to do anything particularly noteworthy, just maybe show something at home against the side playing the worst football in the comp, with the worst tall defence in the comp. I might have been expecting too much from him :D ;)

Sorry if I'm going all St. Peter on you blokes but I'll wait til I see it, before I believe it. But by all means keep up the faith, I admire you guys for it :)
