From the club website:

Daniel Connors (broken hand) Available
Kayne Pettifer (knee) 2 weeks
Ben Cousins (hamstring) 3-4 weeks
Andrew Raines (knee) 3-4 weeks
Trent Cotchin (Achilles) Indefinite
Kane Johnson (knee) Indefinite

Interesting that Thomson is not listed on there despite many claiming that he was out injured. Could be inline for a Richmond debut if he isn't. Also notice that Johnson is seen as being at least several weeks away from making a comeback. Might be time to LTI him and look at getting Nahas promoted to give us that small defensive forward that a number of people believe we need.

If THomson trained with the rehab group last week and didn't play on the weekend like others recovering from injury, such as Clever in the reserves who is returning from injury but was never listed, it's fair to say he had some kind of issue I'd say. It isn't a fairy tale, RT.

Not that I would say it would be impossible to have recovered from the mystery injury and press for selection though.

As Ben Cousins said his injury may be a blessing in disguise for him and the RFC. Allows another spot for a youngster. Great news that Connors and Coughlan are back and ready to play.

I heard Cotchin was back training with the main group today.
Anyone else hear that?

That's interesting because I heard that he could potentially come back within the next few weeks they just want to be real cautious with him. So, wouldn't surprise me.

My god i hope your right! It seems sad that we are in need of a 18/19 year old to come and save us. We need to give him as many games as possible. deffinetly our in and under player that we need because we really don't have any.

but where did you hear this?

Lets play Rance and Connors all year, unless they have two really really shit games in a row. Simple.

LMAO...man we need divine intervention...a small defensive forward plucked from the rookie list aint gunna cut it with the need we have...our need is an ocean and finding a small defensive forward,if we actually do, would be like a drop in that need ocean.
We lack class all over the field. We lack cool heads in a crisis, we lack right option takers, and when our 2 or 3 class players are off the boil, or are closed out of the fight, the facade is exposed and we look like shit....the whole comp knows this, unfortuantely the tigerheads refuse to acknowledge it. Blowing players' trumpets because they do anything else that hides their lack of class and skill...we are back to the future.

We have some cool heads. We'll be dropping a headless chicken(McFeast) for a cool head(Polo shirt). Raines is out too, so that's another panick player out of the team. Thursty is a cool head and seems to have had an interrupted preseason and he'll come good in a game or 2. Newman is the other cool head in defence. Up forward Morton is a cool head and so is Brown(when he stops looking in the mirror and wanking over himself). Brown and Bowden are similar players, but they get selfish every now and then(last Thursday). If Brown or Bowden fails again this week then they'll be at Coburg. Nahas would be a good replacement for Bowden and he might embarrass Brown with his 1%ers. It'll be nice to get Cotch and Cogs back. They are our cool heads in the middle. Not once in 2 years has our team consisted or the best 22 players from our list even though some of these players were not injured and playing at Coburg. This week may finally be the week we have the best possible 22(fit and available) in the team with the right balance of skill, composure, hardness and pace. Cogs and Cotch won't be far away either

Yes you've made some valid points there MT, and Raines is a usual suspect when it comes to panicking, however I will give him this credit - At least when the Carlton game was well and truly over he never stopped having a red hot go.

like i said back to the future....tried hard but not good enough. The funnier thing is that after a year of complete and utter comedy, followed by a year off with the knee, of course he was rushed back in to do what??? Yep..we are in good hands dude...our coach has his finger on the pulse. He just knows the capablities of his players all so well, it has been proven time and time again. ;)

Well you can't replace him with King then, hopefully Rance is a cool calm customer and can slot in down back?

Fair enough, but as soon as he is ready, in he comes I say.
Agreed. We have enough pace in our side I say its time to bring in a bit of toughness and footy smarts. Don't care if "modern footy has gone past him", theres always room for a guy like coughlan. And for me, it would top all the other feel good stories (prior to last thursday ;)) combined.

Are Cotchin and Cousins not being given good advice re medical problems ?

Cotchin has an archilles problem and rushed back to training and now he is out longer due to him being allowed to train too early .
Cousins has a hamstring problem and he is already running , why ?
Have your medical team heard of the word REST ?
They are 2 brilliant players which you need in your matches not on the sidelines!
